Going to be changing these this weekend and was interested into peoples advice - mainly on the gear oil.
I have suffered a bit with bauliking gear changes, and having spoken to one VW specialist, they said that some mk5 gtis left the factory with the wrong grade gear oil..?? So what should I be looking to put in?
I guess any oil up to the VW standards should be ok...I'm not a long life man - change every 10k or a year.,

with the gearbox oil i would personally only recommend whatever the OEM stuff is straight from the dealer - i think there was a test over at TDIclub that found the standard VW OEM spec gearbox oil to be way better than some of the stuff you can buy off the shelf as its designed to last the life of the car. they'd tested viscosities at various temperatures and all sorts of other funky things... its what i put into my TDI's gearbox at 150,000 miles.

Engine oil - Millers CFS 5w40 NT. Way better than longlife and can improve bhp too.
Gearbox oil - Millers CRX 75w90 NT. Nothing better out there. Almost magic in some cases.

Alex...what would your choice be if spending a little less than those 2 you mentioned?

They are not cheap, but well worth spending the money. There really isnt anything else I would advise. I've used all sorts over the years and found these to work by far the best.

Thanks Alex.
Bit of a brain tease here - £30 oil twice a year or £60 oil once.
I do 10k of generally short journeys.
