Hi all,
I'm wondering whether to go for a remap. Either bluefin or shark, anyway, I'm only going to bother if my MPG improves.
Does it? I never drive fast, always try to drive efficiently etc.
I have an Audi s line a3 dsg by the way but same opp platform and engine as you gti boys...
Thanks in advance
Darren

Bluefin is the less agressive map.
A custom map might be able to set you up with a Economy setting with good results.

I've had a remap on my GTI and my Focus ST before it, the GTI was no better (or worse) on fuel, however the ST used more.
You won't see the money you spent on a remap from fuel savings, so if your not going to use the power then IMHO it's not worth it. :happy2:
Remaps are discussed on here daily so have fun with the search function

I did get a slight improvement on MPG with a bluefin map.
But I doubt it makes enough of a saving to justify the cost of the map

No but it might justify it to our lass.... What did you see mate? Figures please....

On an accurate dyno you will get approx 240bhp from a remap on a stock GTI.
You get pretty much the same from any tuner, as they are all working within the limits of the engine.

.
Performance = Power = Petrol
Any remap is fundamentally designed to improve power performance.
As already said, the cost of any reputable remap will not get recovered in any saved mpg costs (if indeed possible) and in reality you're going to be exploring the power of that remap and hence drinking petrol. If not later, you will be exploring it at first and in fact you need to do so in order to get to know what will feel like a new car.
It sounds a bit as if you are seeking a yes answer to your remap-mpg question so you can justify the purchase to your lass. Most lasses are able to tell when their fella isn't telling the truth!
Does your lass drive the car?

I was averaging 25-30 mpg, after having Blufin installed i now get 28-33 mpg. also found i get better mpg with Tesco momentum over v-power. can i also add that when i drive it hard it drops significantly :driver:

Just doing my research really mate. With fuel costs being what they are making the car less economical isn't an option.
We only have one car and a camper so it gets used quite a bit by both of us.
I'd like a remap for driveability but if I could squeeze more mpg it would be win win.

Thanks for this mate, 3 mpg on average is a good gain....

....Then I think it's all down to how you and your lass use your right feet. Don't expect any gain in mpg but if you do achieve any, then it's a bonus - It will only be very slight though. I find claims of as much as 3mpg difficult to believe, but I am not calling anyone a liar who reports otherwise.
DSG would help mpg if you have it and are happy to leave it in D-mode.
I'm not sure what you mean by "driveability" because if a remap is too aggressive your driveability will suffer, that is to say, wheelspin.

Mine was about the same.
Obviously if putting the foot down the MPG drops drastically but on a steady drive at the speed limits the MPG has improved.
I have seen 38mpg on the display taking my son home (25 miles of A roads)

Hi all,
I'm wondering whether to go for a remap. Either bluefin or shark,
I had a Shark remap and it didn't work at all well with my DSG. Got rid, and went the Revo route.

What was the issue with the dsg box?
