It's a matter of looking around either here or ebay for genuine xenons... with ballasts etc

Oh and it also might need washer jets and auto levelling to pass mots  :happy2:

A genuine set of Xenons will set you back around £500 for a good set.

You can get a HID conversion set, but you'll need to change the whole headlight to a projector style headlamp.

I think they will be pricey to retro fit, but IMO they are well worth it. The VW xenons are amongst the best I have used.

Most HID kits are designed for the projector type lenses but there are now being sold specially to fit reflector lenses too which have some changes to supposedly reduce the scattered beam effect, such as these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/XENON-HID-CONVERSION-KIT-H7-H7R-VW-GOLF-MK5-V-/300378950655?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item45effb0bff (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/XENON-HID-CONVERSION-KIT-H7-H7R-VW-GOLF-MK5-V-/300378950655?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item45effb0bff)

Dont know how good they are and they ARE TOTALLY ILLEGAL to have on the public highways..... I ofter wonder about all the local scallys in their honda's and corsa's with the 8000k and 10000k kits installed... have they ever been pulled for having them? probably not so balls to it, I'm trying the 4300K "OEM look" kit this year

now every car i own in the future will have xenons
once you try the oem ones you will never go back

Yup, I didn't mentioned the "R" Reflector related kits as frankly they are so shocking.

For me, there is still confusion into these kits, are they illegal via VOSA standards and as such can be pulled by the police and given a removal warning or a seizure order. Or are they only illegal from an MOT point of view due to them not being in projector housing. As their is still grey area for me over the whole Xenons MOT rule for washers and auto leveling.

it crops up 100 times a week on here, but most people have a different answer, some pass MOT some fail etc.

Jonnybear should be doing this in the near future, im sure he will be able to advise you of cost and whats involved.

i think there may be some controllers to change, auto leveling to install on front and back, headlight washers, either a bigger washer tank or mod the existing for washers, washer pump, light units, ballasts, bulbs (£60 average each) igniters maybe even different looms. not 100%, painting of the new bump strips below headlights to allow for washers to come out. not a small job by any means!
