Title: Pressure washers - for or against?
Post by: paulw123 on January 24, 2013, 09:41:15 am
I've stayed away from pressure washers on cars, believing the old bucket, mitt, hose method is kinder to the paintwork.
However this seems a good offer and i'm tempted.

So how many of you think a pressure washer is better?

Yeah, it's a total pain in the arse having to wrap it around the pressure washer each time you want to put it away.

would you recomend the nilfisk over a karcher?

I have a nilfisk. They tend not to seize in low temps like some of the cheaper Karchers. As long as you don't do anything silly with the PW, it won't damage the car. A mate had one with the integral reel and he hated it.

Pressure washers all the way as long as your sensible with it.

I have one of these which I've had now for about 4yrs and it's superb.

A lad I work with recently bought one of the Aldi specials 130bar and came with a 2 or 3yr warranty, he paid £80 for it and says it's brilliant.

Out of interest, did he say why?

if its like my hose real, then i would guess you have to get the natural twist out of it as you try to wind it in?
which would require it spinning along its entire length maybe, would that mean its thrashing about on the ground whilst you wind it in?

He said it was just too fiddly and poorly designed. He ended up removing the reel.

I have a nilfisk too - tis great  :happy2:

Recently bought a snow foam lance, and apart from being awesome fun it does loosen well which you can feel when running over with a mitt.

Also really good for washing off the bilberry wheel cleaner - much more efficient than a hose  :jumpmove:
