Hi, guys, my name is Ross and i'm 21. Just thought i'd introduce myself to everybody.
Yesterday I bought my first VW and my first fast car. Its a 2008 golf edition 30 in red. I'm moving from a 2008 120d m sport coupe and looking forward to some powerrr! Get it on wednesday so the wait if killing me ha ha....
Got a couple of questions i'd like to ask, but i'll keep them for the specific sections.
Cheers, Ross :)

I've just turned 21 a few weeks ago. My insurance is reasonable at around 1k. That is the lowest my insurance has ever been, and about 100 quid dearer than my bm would have cost me. I've not got any no claims discount either and have 2 sp30s. I probably sound like a total chav ha ha!

Yip, i will do. It'll be given the 'Ross' treatment as my parents call it before any pics are taken haha.

Yeah, it's not the worst. I think the new regs that came in about male and female being treated equally has helped
-
I thought they weren't mean to bring yours down though and just take ours up?!
Oh and welcome by the way

just keep taping what you want to quote on

:worthless:

^^^^ that will be hard as the man hasn't even picked his car up yet.

I think that would be really unfair to do that. Maybe insurance co.s are being decent for a change ha ha

I pressed reply then used 'insert quote' from the recent replies.
Will get pics once i've got it lol.
Also, i don't like the wheels. It's got black monza style ones with diamond cut rim. I think they were popular in europe looking at the pics on google. Would much prefer the standard pescara ones :(

Welcome mate. Has insurance gone down ? I paid that in early nineties for a MK1 Astra GTE.
You'll love the car. Enjoy it

Not down as such, there was new regs introduced that means that male and female have to be treated the same. I'm still not sure whether it is that that has helped or that fact that i've turned 21 :)
Anybody know of the wheels that are fitted to my car?
The same as these

You've got the Euro Detriots on at the moment. Nice looking wheels IMO but if you want the Pescara's I'd recommend getting some BBS VZ's in 18"x8" Hyper Silver, same as the BBS CH's and Pescara's. The BZ's come with a ET44 so more room inside the wheel for a BBK than the Pescara's (18"x7.5" ET51) if needed. The VZ wheels fill out the aches better, giving a better stance as well.
Forum member on here sells them band new for £610....

And you'll have no problem selling the Detriots either. You've not even picked it up yet and we are helping you spend money already!! :signLOL:

Are they made by VW? At first i thought they were aftermarket until i started looking around.
Thanks for the link. Something to consider when i sell the wheels left by my bmw...
-
Yes, they are OEM VW wheels for the Euro Edidy as in the pic you posted! :happy2:

Great, eases the mind a bit that they are not cheap aftermarket sh*te! And hopefully further proves to me that the car is standard, which i want.

Picked up the car today. Happy with it apart from the horrible black wheels :( That can be sorted quite easily tho. Going to try and retro fit the cruise control at the weekend and get it cleaned up to my standard! Also, loving the powerrr :D
-
Congrats on getting the Eddy - let the fun commence
Cheers

It's made a massive difference for young male drivers. Chap who works for me is 18 with a saxo vtr. Was paying £3200 a year to insure it (£300 a month) and took it off the road a couple of months back as said he'd rather have the money and walk to work. Came in the other day back in his car. When I asked how come, he said his insurance had dropped to under £1000. He was getting this price from everywhere so back on the road for under £100 a month. Insurance company said it was because of the new rules

For anybody interested, i've taken some pics and set up a rr

No wonder he took it off the road for that much.
A friend of mine has a diahatsu terrios, 1.3 I think, she's 22 and pays £4000 a year. Shocking.
