Going to look at this over the weekend, does anyone have ownership experience? What should I look out for/beware of? It looks beautiful, and i bet it sounds great and goes like the clappers!

Any petrol station in mirage distance, lol.
Midrange I bet a Stage 1 Ed.30 would stay with or slightly pull on one.
On serious note, they do sound bloody lovely, and great in the corners, wet etc. etc.
-
Cheap now aren't they? That engine is a peach. Would love the same model RS4 in saloon like Greeners was selling.
-
Woooly steering, poor brakes, understeer...
Sound gorgeous go ok, but thirsty...
-
Running costs Ian and petrol, you'll be VERY lucky to see anything near 20mpg.
Brother had one a few years back, epic car with its vast V8, noise is immense on full chat! Drives like a go cart AND with the ride quality of one IMHO unfortunately. Don't be put off, if I could justify another car as a load lugger then this would be right at the top of my list. :notworthy:

Wasn't Greeners' one a B7? They start at 15k now, which is very cheap, but using this as a load lugger for work potentially, sodon't want to spend that much. Fed up with driving a Transit connect 5 days a week, and can't get my head around prospect of Subaru Forester 2.5XT or 3.0R Spec B Legacy ownership.

I don't give a monkeys about mpg! Life is too short not to enjoy every moment.

^^^^ in which case you'd best put your favourite driving gloves on! :happy2:
-
buy it Ian
-
Same engine as my old S6. It will cripple you financially. Go for it.

Nice one Martin! I agree with this guy, everyone should own a V8 at some point. So it's mainly fuel that's gonna hurt. Oh well, could get run over by a bus tomorrow!

Yup. 18mpg at a push.
It takes 8.8 litres of oil and they have been known to like a sup between services.
Cambelt. :surprised:
No matter how little you pay for it you will get stiffed when you come to get rid.
It will sound great and go pretty well. Be on the lookout for an aftermarket exhaust to make the most of it.
Apart from that it's win-win.

They really are epic cars. Drove my brothers down to Le Mans as a "support vehicle" to him and my dad in their cars and other peeps cars and I swear I had more fun than those boys in their shiny 2 seaters! The torque is f*cking barking mad, not the quickest out of the blocks but it just pulls and pulls and pulls forever.
Fuel is the first thing peeps mention when you say Audi 4.2 S4. Road Tax is top bracket too. Still would though. As you say, you only live once, if it costs to much, sell it. :happy2:
-
what's the torque on these? 300ish lb/ft - stage 1 gti?

Road tax is band K, not M as it states in the ad as the car is pre march 2006 so £270 for 12 months :happy2:
Car looks great, go for it :driver:

I've seen 335i examples for less than £12k, M Sport too. Both coupe and four door, not sure about tourers.
A better if little more expensive buy BUT with turbos to play with, certainly better economy, sound chassis, 'fun wheel drive' and a straight 6 sound?
Got me looking at one as a used project in honesty which is why I knocked in this post given what you're looking at Ian.
-
Awesome cars with an astounding sound track to boot!
I just found the power delivery boring compared with a Turbo car. I tended to pootle everywhere in the RS and used to regularly get 24mpg.
-
I bought one last week. Averaging 18mpg.
Tax here in Ireland is 1800 for a year .
Gorgeous to drive, seats are incredibly comfortable and won't be found wanting for support in the twisties. Doesn't feel quick until you look at the speedo!!.
I've a non res Miltek on the way for it, even though they sound well they are a bit quiet in standard form.
They've aged well too imo and look well if a bit understated.
-
It's a total barge.
My friend has just bought an S6 with the v10 Lamborghini lump under the bonnet,
Makes any R32 sound like a fisher price in comparison.

Tasty, though it would have to have the original alloys for me.
-
All I will say is MPG! My B7 RS4 averaged 16ish MPG over the 7 months/7000 miles I had it. I know a slightly different car, and more power etc, but it will have the same thirst, and the same amazing exhaust note when mated to a Milltek.
Do it and enjoy :happy2:

I agree on the wheels Andrew. This is the colour though! amazing blue! I misread the ad, thought it was 69 miles away, not 169! I'm going to find one locally to road-test with OEM wheels.

My friend has just bought an S6 with the v10 Lamborghini lump under the bonnet,
Not for £6,5k he hasn't.
I drove one at launch and it was a bit underwhelming.

I felt the same about the C6 RS6, very underwhelming, but very fast!
-
Yup, V8 RS6 for me. Having been lucky enough to drive one a couple of times.
-
We had one in at work and I got the pleasure of working on it and road testing it. I loved it it was a flappy paddle one which was also really good IMO I'd have one just to tick it off the list of owning one. Fuel consumption wasn't the best but its v8 so it's never going to be amazing.
If I was you I'd buy it run for few months and then sell on or keep

where did I say that? Got rid of his 911 for it.
-
The link doesn't work anymore :(
But in general they are beasts! Never owned one but they do sound incredible!
-
m3 is better, 335i better too.
Getting on a bit now so potential big bills on high milers. As said a stage 1 ed30 will be quicker also from a rolling start to 100.
