Title: Next service?
Post by: Rustybear on January 28, 2013, 08:44:51 pm
Right then!! Car has been in long life service all it's little life due to the mileage it was doing circa 20k per year, FVWSH etc.

Bought from VW technician last January who kindly changed the oil and filter before I bought it, plugs, pollen filter, air filter  etc changed at 87k by VW so next service at 107k.

Anyway, I'm doing circa five miles a day now so was wondering if its worth having a service done on it now, done 6k in the year so its got 99.5k . If so what service?

Definitely get a service!  :happy2:

Personally I would service your car as to the way you use it, in your case, a Fixed Service (Time and Distance). Make it a full service as its 100k and next year just a minor service.

Thanks. Fuel filter ticked in service book at 87k so does it need changing again at 99.5k? Looking at vw website they are offering £199 Major Service (usual RRP £259) which seems okay.

^^^^ thats for the diesel Mk5's IIRC. Fuel filter is not recommended to change at all in a petrol Mk5 by VW. They're are muptards and they are wrong, its a filter so needs changing. At £25, get it changed as a service item, many of us do.  :happy2:
