I've seen a few people with these fitted on thier GTI's with aftermarket intakes on the internet
Are they a straight fit with no modification needed?
Just noticed markymarks one for sale from his Pirelli and think it looks alot better than some of the drab looking ones you can buy
Bit of a long shot but anybody know how much they are or maybe a part number?

A very quick search reveals this...........

Ok so after visting 3 Audi dealers near me im starting to think that thier parts departments couldnt give a toss and are hopeless :fighting: :fighting:
I had part numbers at the ready and still they tried to sell me the wrong engine cover, told me the part had been replaced with a newer version and were confused when i told them it was for a golf and not an audi :stupid:
Has anybody ever bought parts from BKS Tuning in Germany as they sell the TTS engine cover and 3 screws needed as a kit for about £90
Thanks for any feedback

The centre part needs the badge removing and then painting black. I was told by TPS that the part has been revised but it's still the TT-S engine cover. Just don't tell them it's for a Golf to try and avoid the confusion.

I think I can do them for £93 + delivery last time I checked. Thats the cover and 3 fixing screws.
-
Thanks John looks great
The part numbers im using are
06F 103 925H engine cover
06E 103 164E front lug
WHT 000 731A two rear lugs
the lugs came back as the right part but the one dealer who i got some sense out of told me it wasn't a H and more but a J revision but the ETKA diagram was a completely different engine cover

Yeah the H is now a J. Ignore the pics on ETKA as they are not always correct.

Should work with all aftermarket intakes but only seen pictures of them with ITG's and twin takes fitted so far

Unfortunately not :sad1:
It's from an Audi TTS so its the same engine but uses different mounts than our original one does
Some people have simply removed the Audi rings and filled, smoothed and painted the cover adding a VW logo on a couple

I'm very happy with my customised Evoms engine cover and so am not thinking of changing it. However, I'm sure I would have gone for this TTS option had it been available back in the day and I'm curious to know whether its fixings are similar to the OEM VW cover (which are so easily broken on cover removals)?
-
Look closely at this pic (click for bigger), there are two locating pegs left and right in the middle of the cam cover and one screwed into the middle if the inlet manifold.

....So unless I've got it completely wrong, the TTS engine cover uses very similar fixings which look like chess pieces and which can be problematic.
Thank you, btw :drinking:
-
^^^^^ your absolutely right robin. My front one has broken off already :sad1:

I've tried getting these bits from TPS in Stockport/Manchester and they're not finding the front lug.
I have used the part numbers which have been supplied on page one:
06F 103 925H engine cover
06E 103 164E front lug
WHT 000 731A two rear lugs
Anyone got any idea why they can't find this part number at TPS? :s
Cheers,
Karl

Those should be the right part numbers mate
The guy in the Audi dealer I tried first found all the lugs ok but got confused with the cover :signLOL:
I've ordered a kit from VRSAlex that should be here tomorrow or Thursday  so I'll double check part numbers for you :happy2:
Dave

Thanks a lot, that'd be great.

Any chance did you manage to double check those part numbers against the ones given on here Dave?

Hi Karl
Only got the engine cover this morning and looking on the back of it the part number is 06F-103-925-J
Unfortunately the 3 lugs don't have part numbers on them or the bag they came in but the dealer I went to found them ok with the part numbers i quoted earlier, it was the cover they had trouble with lol
Give VRSAlex a call and he'll be able to confirm the other numbers as I ordered it from him :happy2:
Dave

Cheers for that Dave, much appreciated!

-
Thanks a lot for that Alex, I've no idea why TPS seem to be struggling to find the front lug but will try again on Monday and hopefully get a different person to check for me
Thanks for your help too Dave and I can't wait to get one, it makes the engine bay look a lot better in my eyes

Mine is finally ready for fitting too... :happy2:
Matt metallic grey along with gloss black, deleted the Audi badge and filled in the recess, re-painted the TFSI badge section and finished off with 3M gloss carbon vinyl. Don't know if the 3M vinyl will last under the bonnet but it is gloss black underneath, so no biggie to remove if needed

Looks great! Do you use normal automotive primer / paint for the engine cover? Or do you need special plastic primers?

I used a spray plastic primer and normal spray paint.

Finally fitted!
I was surprised how close the engine cover colour is to the Steel Grey body colour even though it isn't the same grey ( or even meant to be ) as the Matt colour. Plus the R8 oil filler cap goes nicely with the MAF housing.

I used Isopon bumper filler. :happy2:
-
picked up one of these and the bolts from my local TPS today - would you believe they were all in stock ! under £83 with a little discount
Will have to get some filler now and paint I suppose !
-
Eagerly await what you are going to do with this Neil. :happy2:
-
well, got it out - prised the audi badge off - easy as peas. Had a quick look and managed to get the middle section off by releasing the clips along the bottom (you can just get to the under the foam) then putting my hand under prised them out of the other wise - so its now in 3 bits.
Going to see if I can at least smooth off where the audi bit was and maybe just redo that section. The silver outside is not too bad but now I have seen yours...
Not sure how the bottom black section comes off yet, seems to be clips again but without removing the foam - which doesn't look easy, it could be a pain to get off.
I like the subtle OEM look so wont be any crazy type graphics like some I have seen.
thanks for the info anyway, shame TPS ordered me the wrong boot mat though - even though I had one before, they got me the non-4motion one. Another trip back.
-
The metal circles need prizing off from underneath. I found it best to rock and turn them at the same time and they came off better. Then the foam just lifts off. :happy2:
-
Managed to get the lower section off now without removing the foam. Don't think I'll need to remove it now - if I do paint the main unit then I can mask it up.
Quite like the colour coded look like yours, grey and gloss black to match the R features. may look for something steel grey like paint.
-
Very nice, what sort of filler do I need to use to do mine?
I used Isopon bumper filler. :happy2:
Thank you :happy2:
Managed to get the lower section off now without removing the foam.
Is there a method to do that?
Did anybody who removed the foam by prising off the retaining clips bother to put it back on afterwards?
-
I didn't bother removing the foam, just prised off the black bits which I'm having painted gloss black n

Right I have ordered the engine cover from tps and another part I need but am struggling to track down the part WHT 000 731A
Anyone know anywhere I can get those from ?
-
I feel your pain since I had this exact same problem just this week. I had originally ordered the screws from my usual parts guy along with the cover and the short screw but when they arrived he told me that he couldn't get hold of the longer screws. I began searching online but could only find US sites to purchase from. I then turned to my local VW/Audi dealership where they told me that they can order them for me. But an hour from that they gave me a call telling mecthat the VW importer had requested a chassis number and pictures of the original screws. I was honest with them telling why I need them and they promised to sort it out. I then got another call an hour later confirming that they managed to order them for me which was great. I don't even mind paying double to what my parts guy quoted me for them.
But, since all that wasn't really very helpful to you, I'll just leave you with this:

Just bid on those mate and thank you for bringing them to my attention.. Gonna bid a daft price for them to ensure I get them.
Like you said, found them on US sites but they all wanted me to pay over $100 on goods for them to ship to the UK... I was tempted to buy a bulk load of them and then sell the others on here as always handy for others doing the mod...
Hopefully I win the auction!
-
Any links for the american sites? Could get them delivered to a friend in the US then shipped here cheaper?
If a few people want them im sure i can get a few cheaper than they'd charge to send straight here.
-
I should have 12 pins in stock by the end of the week.
-
How much do you charge per pair alex?
-
Alex. Please put me down for a pair.
