I've not used my cd player for a while but last time I used it it was working fine.
Now when I try to load cds it won't let me. Any ideas?

Anyone?
Try a different CD in it?
VCDS scan the car, and see if that throws up any problems.
Try switching Radio completely off then on and then try loading CD in player ( Full power recycle)

I've tried different cds. The fact that the error message is there though suggests it's a problem with the actual cd player itself and not my cds.
I've tried turning it off and back on and it still comes up with the error message.
Will try and see if I can get it scanned on Vagcom for any errors, it has been to VW for a service since the error message has come up though and they never said I had any fault codes.

Have you tried hitting it with a hammer?

The manual states on page 28 "a mechnical defect in the cd drive is indicated by the word ERROR in the status bar and SERVICE in the bottom line of the display. Please ask your VW dealership for further information."
