Title: GT Tdi 170 Injector failure. At speed!
Post by: Degudodger on February 06, 2013, 04:50:40 pm
Bought the GT Tdi at the start of the week knowing the injectors hadn't been replaced under the UK Recall so arranged for the work to be carried out at Peter Cooper Southampton next week. My car had other ideas as this morning while driving down the M3 on my way to Southampton, just where the motorway splits M3 east and West and those who know the M3 will appreciate how bust the junction, i lost all power and "Engine Workshop" flashed up on the dash. Not what you want doing 70mph on a motorway in busy traffic but i managed to pull over to the hard shoulder, called the RAC to be recovered but had to pay £25 to change vehicle details before they would recover the car. :fighting:

The car was towed the 4-5 miles to Peter Cooper who diagnosed the issue as THREE failed injectors. All four are being replaced including the wiring loom as part of the recall and at no cost to me so suppose i can't complain but still an interesting experience trying to coast through morning traffic across three lanes of traffic.

I thought as the car is there they might as well do a full service including brake fluid change (it is 5k miles overdue) and was pleasantly surprised when i was quoted £239.

Are you actively seeking out problematic VAG diesel's these days? :)

It certainly feels that way

Apart from the injectors, this one is in excellent condition and is still a bloody amazing deal for what i paid for it :)
