Title: Red LED on door staying on???

Hi guys.

When driving along I'm noticing the little red LED on the door staying illuminated, it's as if there's a fault somehow?

Any ideas why it stays on?

mine does this sometimes too. no idea if its a fault though

When you lock the car if it doesn't flash fast and stays solid there is a fault on the alarm system.

It could be a lock not locking, a sensor but usually it's the alarm. Best bet is to get a VCDS scan. If its the alarm it £124 from the stealers as is an easy DIY job

mine works fine when i lock the car, but sometimes its on whilst im driving

Yes mines fine when locked. Just stays on once driving sometimes ?

Scan is the way to go as the lock or door wiring are both common faults even though it's working for the minute!

In the past I've had drivers door lock replaced as well as boot lock. As both failed. Could this be a problem? Do they need recoding or something?

The scan will answer most questions  - but normally means the locks safe mode has failed eg no dead lock now on one of the doors.

This happens on mine sometimes. I remember reading that it's not a major issue but something to do with the door controller on the older golf's. Can't find the link right now.

Basically if you unlock the car at the exact time the light flashes it stays on. Just lock and unlock again and it will disappear.

If your light is staying on when you lock the car then there is probably more of an issue.

Cheers guys. Will get it scanned and see what that brings up. If nothing then will just leave it.
