Title: rear anti roll bar snapped

As above really, it snapped about 2"- 3" from the end before the drop link bush on the nearside. Anyone else had this or know what might have caused it ?
'55 plate GTI 92K miles

Sorry, no. But I have a spare front and rear from 2009 car with 35k on the clock  :happy2: JKM removed them a short while ago for me.They're advertised here, let me know if you're interested.

Ya it happened to me shortly after I got my car in june!
My mechanic said he had never seen it before, and the parts guy in my local VW garage was shocked to hear it had broken lol!!

That was my one, did yours break the same way??

EXACTLY the same place, another common fault starting ?

Thanks FLASHP but it's still under warranty, back to the garage next week .......

If you look at my picture, you can see deterioration on the break, and a much smaller patch that looks freshly broken, I'm thinking it cracked and weakened over time, or something like that anyway!

That's maybe what happened with mine. The wife was driving it yesterday and went over a plastic bottle, heard a terrible bang and that's when the knocking started. Can't believe that could have caused it ?

Looks like a weak stress point doesn't it? Problem with heat treating or something I expect.
