Title: New Member Ed30 owner
Post by: chigmuss on February 07, 2013, 09:51:55 pm
Hi Guys, been a member on here for a wee while but finally got my funds together to buy a Ed30. Been through the whole Golf range (still have my Mk2 in the garage) but really love the look and way the Mk5 drives.
She's No.15, in grey, DSG and standard as they come, which won't last....I've changed to a rev.G DV and upgraded to the MTEC bulbs, which I have to say are a big improvement. The modification bug is itching me bad but since my cars got an extended VW warranty I'm gonna have to wait to up the power. Anyway, quick shot of her all mucky, breaking out the snow foam at the weekend.

Nice bro really nice, wanted the grey or white but had to settle for black as the offer and low miles for year was too good too pass.

In my scour to find the right car I was on eBay, piston heads, here obviously and also gum tree. I was within an ace of buying a black manual 3door in London, that is still up for only 8.5k but it needed a little bit of bodywork seeing to, mileage was good though at under 50thou. Just checked, still there. if anyone's watching that I did a lot of background on it and it seems a good buy. (Pm me if you are contemplating it, I'm not involved in its sale don't worry).
I went for DSG in the end, like it but I still keep going for the gear stick whenever I go to reverse!
The thing that's holding me back from going mad modifying this is the VW warranty, don't want to invalidate that but they seem such robust cars, I'm sure someone must have had engine failure but I've not personally heard of it yet.

Thanks for all the replies guys, and especially GS Wax, previous owner, such a good forum but I was trying to resist the modding bug....no chance.

In no particular order I'd like to....filter, cat back milly, eibach springs, NQSBBK, map. Sadly it's all gonna have to wait until my VW warranty runs out and also when funds have built up. The bummer is I'm with HIC and every mod incurs a admin fee so if I'm going to I should declare all at once to mimise the charges. Having said that, it's a great drive as standard.
