Title: Which bluetooth phone kit?
Post by: davla on February 08, 2013, 09:48:46 am
I've got the standard cd/radio (RCD500 with iPod) and want bluetooth for my iPhone. My question is: is my current unit compatible with the VW bluetooth kit and if so, will I get the callers names on the radio etc? If not what are the alternatives or is there a decent OEM looking bluetooth cd/radio with bluetooth on the market that is plug n' play? I could fit a Parrot CK3100 with the controller in the ashtray but I'd prefer to have the names etc through the radio. Cheers.

Not sure about aftermarket stereo units, but if you want to stay OEM its not going to be cheap.

As a minimum you will need
RCD510 Headunit
Gateway (Required to stop battery drain caused by fitting newer VW head units into cars older than 2007)
VW Bluetooth kit
HighLine display instrument cluster if you want phone book to show in the dash display

Rough cost £500  :scared:

Parrot Mki9200.

Replicates your phone/iPod on the display & only costs £150. Brilliant piece of kit.

Looks a good option as I could fit to a Brodit mount. Is it touch screen then?

I agree with the Parrot. I put my screen in the ashtray/cubby hole so it was a little more out of view.

Have you got a highline display?  I installed the Skoda Bluetooth kit when I had an RCD500, it doesn't display anything on the stereo but it does on the highline

I'm not sure what the highline is so I guess I probably don't have it. My car is a 2007 and has the red in dash display?
