Was just on the mk5 near the Chertsey junction in the van noticed some of the variable speed limit signs coming on for 50. Noticed as I went through it flashed :sick:I was doing about 50 55. Further down some where 40 and some were off or not working. Anyone had this experience before or have any idea if I'll actually get a ticket. :scared:
-
There is probably quite a high margin befor you get a ticket, I see people speeding through them without a flash quite regularly.
PS: This post should be in the Random Chat section mate, the mods will probably move it
-
Ah ok is there a way I can move it?
The only thing is that it did definitely flash which is why I'm worried only just got rid of all my points! :fighting:
-
might have flashed a car on the other side of the road or a different car not yours?
-
I've been caught out by a few times with them changing from 50mph to 40mph and got nothing.
Also the other month, one of the news papers wanted to know the highest grossing camera and a freedom of information act revealed that due to legal complications none of the cameras are turned on. I can't remember the exact legal reason
-
I've past them many times thinking they've flashed and realised that it wasnt a flash but a reflaection from oncoming traffic in the signage.... not even sure these ones flash.
-
Cheers guys putting my mind a rest only time will tell :popcornsoda: sounds like I should be alright though touch wood!
-
As far as i can tell the cameras dont change to the same speed as the signs say.
I have been through there at 70 when the signs have said 40 because there was nothing in front of me, and i have never got a ticket.
-
The one time I drove along the M25 and they were on, I was doing 70mph before I realised. I got nothing from it.
-
As Nodz says the cameras aren't even switched on anymore so no need to worry. :happy2:
-
I read a story yesterday that said they haven't been authorised for use yet.
-
That's right, they spent millions upgrading the cameras and now they're not, yet, authorised to use them.
-
Stolen from another forum, where a similar question was asked about the M25 cameras :drinking:

 well its looking good then even if they sent something through i would fight it sent a email to the fleet manager telling him to make sure he dosent just accept and pay on my behalf. From what i hear fromt the other engineers there good and doing that !

.
I hate all overhead gantry speed cameras. On the M42 my PogoAlert is going off all the time as it's set to a distance to give me fair warning. I drive miles out of my way to avoid that stretch of the M42 just because of the camera gantries.

Sounds about right Luke :happy2:
Nothing gauranteed in your case Conrad, but let's simply say a friend of mine  has unintentionally tested them at three figures (when they've been at the standard NSL 70mph) and received no summons.
Keep a closer eye out next time though :happy2:

:signLOL: yeah tbh I'm normally really careful I've got a snooper and my tom tom in the gti and I never really go quick in the van its pointless was just caught out by sort of going with the flow of traffic.
