Manual Ed30.
Just changed the clutch a few days ago.
Today I noticed when I stopped at red light, put gear in neutral and released clutch pedal that I hear noise from the clutch. And when I depress the pedal I hear how the disk stops rotating. :surprised:
No clutch slip, no problems changing gear.
Anyone else has this noise?
What could it be?

I've got the exatct same thing, happened when I had a new clutch in mine 5 months ago. I'm still trying to get it sorted under warrant and I'll be on the phone to vw again in the morning.
But in my case it seems as though the input shaft on the gearboxs bearings have gone.
My be thrust bearing it's very hard to tell and the dealers are about as much use as.
Hope this helps

Was going to say thrust bearing. :happy2:
-
Are they non-standard clutch's?
-
Mine's standard, i had the fly and clutch done under warranty, it's a lot loader when the car cold as well.
-
yes sounds like clutch plate release bearing noisey.
Contact the place that fitted it.

+1
Clutch release bearing.
-

-
he has just put a race clutch in it they are noisey
In that case , should of read the smallprint.
-
Thanks guys.
There was no smallprint, Phil. And if you do not trust me - go and check for yourself.
Yes, I put in Sachs clutch plate and disk. It sounds more when the car is warmed up.
WOnder where all those people who fit Sachs clutch plates on their cars are? I thought some of those guys would answer.
-
traditionally this would be a clutch release bearing / input shaft type noise.
However some users over on golfmkv.com have complained about clutch 'chatter' in a no load scenario
(i.e. foot off pedal and not in gear) following an upgrade to a high torque clutch.
What was the exact spec / part number for the sach clutch you have added?
If it is a high performance clutch then I'd suspect chatter which is normal
If its just a 'normal' ish spec clutch then Id suspect its not normal and needs looked at

talked to mechanics, they said it is ok, no problem.
I hear rotating noise when the car is warm and I am in neutral and clutch pedal released, when I depress the pedal I hear the clutch disk stop rotating.
I don't mind the noise, I just worry something is broken.
But they've said nothing to worry about.

What I have is the upgraded Sachs clutch plate and Sachs clutch disk with organic surface (not sintered disk). Before I had clutch slip, after replacement of original clutch with Sachs I have no slip.
