was at revo the other day having my map updated and saw the S5, ive never paid much attention to them before and they look good, love the interior and look understated....never paid attention to the stasis ones even tho ive seen them alot :signLOL:
now im not a lover of NA stuff as tunibility puts me off, I like a big turbo :driver: one of them is a V6 turbo or a V8? I know the RS5 isn't but its pretty impressive but a non turbo car doesnt thrill me like M3's etc.
does anyone know what one has a turbo and what there like?

RS5 is a 4.2 V8 like the new RS4 and is OK but doesn't feel as fast as the forced induction cars.
The newer S5's are 3.0 V6 supercharged (earlier coupes where also 4.2 V8), newer V6 map well and with pulley upgrades are giving some great results. :happy2:
-
Also the latest 4.0 V8 twin turbo in the new S6 is an engine with awesome potential, shame they didn't use that in the new RS4 :sad1:
-
Colleague at work just got a 3 year old S5. Lovely thing!!!

I cannot believe they put that old dated V8 in such an iconic new car. Great shame, one of the new 4.0 TT units with a map will be monumental! One day

all convertibles and Sportback S5s (prefacelift and facelift) are the supercharged V6. Facelift coupes are also the supercharged V6. Prefacelift coupes are NA 4.2 V8.
just a consideration, the newer EA888 2.0T in the A5 remaps to 305bhp at stage 1, giving you similar power but lower weight

They are complete barges though. I drive an A5 Diesel BE Coupe regularly and it is woeful, also had the 2.0T as a courtesy car recently. I have more fun driving my Citroen van with 120k on it. They need a mega engine to make the go, granted they are comfy but that's about where it ends.

Rather embarrassing that the 3.0TDI is just as quick 0-60

Performance figures are dissapointing for the price on the rs versions.
The 3.0t supercharged models tune really well.
The 4.0t tunes stupidly well APR have shared some power gains and v-box times and a map on those makes a huge difference. Shane the rs5 etc didn't come with that engine.
Perhaps the mk2 r8 will use the 4.0t that would be cool.

Now that would make things interesting

were they FWD or quattro - i had the displeasure of driving the 2.7TDI (FWD and multitronic only) and it was woeful. the quattro 3.0TDI i drove was much better and i'd imagine that the 2.0T would be better still
at the end of the day, it's meant to be more of a grand tourer than a sports car. the TT and R8 are Audi's sports coupes after all
-
There are some very nice audi's out there. rule of thumb the bigger the audi the bigger the bills

He covers 5k miles a year. I don't think he is bothered. :)

I wasn't referring to economy, just pointing out that the S5 isnt that quick

The 3.0 TDI will fall away fairly swiftly after 60...and would probably end up with a similar 1/4 mile to a stage 1 GTI.

They are really not fast has Rich says, my bus outruns a young drug dealers S5 around the corner from me his face is a picture when I pass him  that's without pressing the sport button and pushing another 50 horses up its arse.
But in the bigger picture I would prefer to have been driving the S5 :happy2: better place to be.
