Title: neg's R
Post by: neg on February 17, 2013, 08:08:01 pm
Well some of you may know after a lot of debating I finally gave in after running round in a Mini Cooper S works for just over 2 years (longer than planned but was great fun) I thought it was time to get back in a Golf.  Looked at GTI's and R's and even the latest mk7 but I couldn't wait until late Summer 2013 and still not being able to order one yet a mk6 it was.  Looking about I set my budget and kept an eye out ... after a couple of weeks one popped up which was more than I wanted, blew the budget but got a great spec'd car - even with the 'would be better' 5dr version - as I have 2 small kids I wasn't particularly wanting a 5dr but it was going to be easier - and has been.

Small update this weekend - black gloss front badge

Drive's really nice, got a great solid feel to it, very well built.  Power delivery is odd (bear with me), this being my first all wheel drive car too - the power just seems to appear, you don't get the thrust feel you get on the mapped EA888 TSI lump but its no slower by any means, it comes but just more disguised.  Once mapped I am sure it will let you know

Its got ACC too - which is brilliant, wasn't too bothered about this but so glad I've got it.

Had my dream options, never thought one would come up.

Only thing it doesn't have is cruise (easily fitted) and the sunroof.

If you ever find the front seats too uncomfortable then give me a shout!

Very tempted to stick to Revo as this is what I had before a few times.  Looking at map + intake but now found some interesting info on the BCS downpipe so could do that and Stage2

Ben - your colours too eh!

Exactly the spec and car I want. I currently have a 5 door ED30 in candy white, but now I'm really wanting a Golf R in white.

Where did you find it, and roughly how much was it ??

Very nice. What's the spec?

Candy White
5dr
RNS510 + Bluetooth
Rear View Camera + PDC front and rear
Recaro Buckets
ACC
DSG
Rear Side Airbags (optional)
19" Black Talladega's
Lux Pack
Winter Pack

think thats about it.

Found it on autotrader - just kept checking every few days, every day in the end and the odd special one comes up.

My friend has a Candy White Scirocco R which is a lovley car but I think I prefer the Golf R, Onto the remaps His has a stage one AMD map which is a bit of a two stage map. Seems to drive like a standard car up to around 4000RPM and then really wakes up, Possibly mapped this way to follow the original torque curve upto a point and preserve the stock clutch? Quick car though!

Infact I cant think of another 5 Door performance hatch I would want to buy other than one of these, At stage one its probably one of the best all rounders!

Enjoy
