Title: Freshly painted car and then this happens!
Post by: ell.s on February 17, 2013, 10:48:21 pm
Well ive just spent 800 quid having my GTi's front end and both sides painted to freshen them up an get it to a standard where it can be shown with pride, and some scrote has driven straight down the passenger door in a car park and just driven off, even more sickening there isn't any cctv and no witnesses! The door skin is now rippled and has a 10" crease just above the rubstrip! whats wrong with people these days I wouldn't dream of doing that to someones pride and joy and just driving off!

Yeah I had most of the car painted it looked better than new it was my mate who painted it he owns JH Pro Paint an we run Route 32 he's the guy behind the R32 engined mk1 that won stuff last year, hes managed to make it less noticable until I can get it painted again it's just sickening that it's got to be done again after 3 weeks, if I ever find the culprit it woud end up costing them alot more than me!

I feel your pain bud. Someone did the exact same - a good half a meter scrape across the back p/s quarter. There's no damage the body work - will just need a good old clean and polish (I hope)

i think its the price of insurance, cost of  paying excess, loss of no-claims bonus that tempts people into driving off.
me daughter backed into a taxi, he presented her with £479 estimated bill, did'nt take paint off his car, no damage to her car, went thro admiral to avoid any comeback for her as she is at uni. Admiral seemed amazed the taxi was insured!!

EXACTLY nailed it right there. People have insurance, even called full coverage here, but you have money coming out of your own pocket regardless. Of course it tempts them to leace and let you deal with the damage yourself. If the insurance that you pay for is ever used they usually will raise your rates over the next three years over here recovering for themselves more than they originally put out for the repairs. I'd rather put my money in an account that would be some sort of investment group and have my own money to use if needed. That type of insurance would have people sticking around or at least leaving a note with their info. This would be better than paying upfront just so that "if you do need that insurance", it wouldn't be like a bad loan you'll need to pay back. We don't have to pay a bank up front for 18 years just so if we need a loan we can have it, plus pay it back with interest. Somebody stop me...

Anyone 3rd party only for their car insurance?

Thats the thing my insurance is nearly 3k a year as it is so wouldn't dream of claiming, but if I caused damage to someones car I would either stump up the bill or take a hit on my insurance. I guess some people have less morals than others, its going to take a good chunk out of my air ride budget :(

Insurance is £3k a year, boody hell!I thought I was getting robbed when paying just short of £600 fully comp,it doe's make you wonder why so many people drive off after doing thing's like this as they know full well that they've hit/scraped something, hope it all get's sorted for yer mate.
