just wondering which car related apps people have which they find come in useful in one way or the other?
i have hardly any apps on my i phone so thought best time i looked into what was out there

ringSPEED - Nurburgring webcams and other utilities
Harrys Lap Timer Pro - Great bit of kit. Should be awesome with the new VBox compatibility.
iSymDVR - Dash cam. Superbly written piece of software. Got my new screen mount for this, to log all my commutes/drives and the horrendous driving i see on the roads daily.

thanks, can you expand a bit on those ie is ring speed only useful if going to the 'ring? and is harry's lap timer pro Harry Metcalfe and what exactly does it record for you?

Road Trip - logs all fuel fill ups, service costs etc.. ive used this over the last two years to note how much its costing me to run the car, average fuel MPG etc.. great app.

The Ultimate Drive - BMW app, but its a social based application aimed at sharing great driving roads.

got road trip and that lap timer looks ace but £13.99 - but still cheap if its as good as the reviews suggest :happy2:

Hill climb racing is a totally addictive app, but only a game for big kids!
Auto trader app and ebay app are very useful if you don't already have them.

I use Torque combined with an OBD II bluetooth plug in to get real time engine info. It can also read and clear fault codes (not that I've had any on my GTI) but I cleared one last weekend on the girlfriends polo.
Torque has a free verson too. Here's a little more info for those interested:

road angel and trapster are good and free. dash command is ace but cost around £60 to setup inc software and wireless obd connection

Aside from car apps to use in the car, Car Buzz is a good app for car news and pics etc ;)

How do you mount the iphone to view the road ahead ? Ploint me towards the item please , web link or ebay ? Thanks

I haven't tried the app you are referring to Mike, but I have a Bluetooth obd transmitter you could try out :happy2:
