Hello all, wife got me this last week and I want a snow foam lance that works.
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fag38%2Fstanipkiss%2FDSC04655_zpsfb26a387.jpg&hash=53e4f89c3e7d572a19e638495f81d7a9ac44da23)
Bargain of £99 from argos. It came with lots of accessories including this bottle, is this connector quick release spiggott or bayonet?

My eye is on the Magifoam one.
What lances do you guys use?
Thanks in advance

I use one from autobrite, I've had it for 5 years now and it's still in perfect working order. They sell lances for every fitting but I'm sure that isn't a bayonet fitting.
-
I have the same washer I got a lance fom ebay and the foam lance was 45 quid

I swear they're all made by the same place given their appearance. Just make sure you get the correct fitment. Currently rate magifoam above the likes of ValetPro but am due to try Bilt Hamber soon.
-
I have a Nilfisk too and I guessed that the bayonet in the extension part that you twist into the gun and the quick release is the same as the nozzles!
Don't hold me to that! Just what I would assume!!
-
Autobrite are one of the best
sent using my own fingers

I have a nilfisk also, and got this lance at Christmas - although when it arrived the connector was actually metal not plastic as shown in the photo so they may have changed them.

You need the kew/alto/nilfisk connector type

Thanks for all the advice.
I used snow foam for the first time on Saturday and I have what might seem a stupid question to some.
Should i have used the pressure washer to wash the dirt/foam off the car even after the car had foam on for 30 mins? Or should all the dirt end up on the floor in the foam after this time?
I have a nilfisk C120 using AB lance and Magifoam.
Any advice would be gratefully received

Yep, pressure wash the foam off the car afterwards. I normally only leave the foam on for 10-15mins.
I usually do the wheels with a valet pro brush while the foam is doing its magic, by the time the wheels are done, its usually time to jet the foam off
:happy2:

I've been doing it wrong then.
I use the karcher pw to rinse, then karcher snow foam lance to whack the karcher snow foam on, (all came in the same pack) lol, leave for a few mins, then use wash mitt and two bucket method....rinse, dry...
I'm going to try your way though, sounds better than the potential of getting dirt in the mitt... So just before two bucket method, rinse off snow foam.

As above use the karcher attachment :happy2:

Thanks heavy.
If I stand further back to wash off the foam the car was still covered in dirt!! (dont think the foam worked) I then stood closer with the pressure washer and it removed the dirt.
Should most of the dirt and grit end up on the floor in the foam before rinsing the foam off?
-
The karcher attachments dont work as good as the HD foam lances mind, nowhere near.
I think the trouble is, people expect the car to be gleaming clean after theyve used the snow foam, I've never had this happen. Its only meant to be a pre-wash to get the thick of the grime off the car, at which it does its job.
Try different times to leave the foam on the car, 10, 20 or 30 mins, see what gives best results for you?
-
TBH, I'm the first to admit I don't know much about car cleaning... however, I've always thought the Karcher snow foam attachment was fine, I use about an inch of product and dial it up to max; turns a black car white in a matter of seconds, therefore done it's job of getting product onto the car... not sure how it could be better... perhaps I'm missing out... :popcornsoda:

Not sure about which lance you're using. Karcher do their own version which I've tried and produces a watery soapy solution. A proper snowfoam lance produces foam that's as thick as shaving doam.
As above, the snowfoam is a prewash to loosen dirt and grime. It's a bit like soaking last night's dishes before washing them up. The rinse process is where you will remove the dirt itself. I find I have to get quite close eg 6-12 inches. I still use a 2BM wash afterwards and then rinse down.

Karcher everything... and yes it is a watery soapy solution, quite thick, but certainly not like shaving foam.
Might try more than an inch of product, see if that works, if not may look into another attachment.

Mine looked like this:

It was crap. I also saw this one:

But heard crap reviews about it. This is a proper foam lance:

I've got the one in the middle with bad reviews  Seems ok.
What make / model is the last one mate?
-
IMO they're all the same but sold by different detailing companies. I got mine from Elite Car Care but that image was from i4detailing. Cleanyourcar, polishedbliss, autobrite-direct - just look at a website and buy one. Most will do a deal with a free litre sample of snowfoam.
When you buy one, make sure it has the correct fitment (they often give you a choice) and then play around with the lance to determine the settings.
-
Like I said before, they all seem to look the same, but these are the cheapest, they also sell them on eBay, but are more expensive
