Hey
Bought some open fog light grills from a fellow member. Can't see a VW sign on them and they are made in Taiwan, is there anyway of telling if they are genuine as they were advertised as OEM
-
Have they got any plastic behind the open part of the grill to direct airflow?
-
I have Taiwanese ones I got on ebay for £6.
Are the airflow directors important??
-
No that's what made me question it, nor is there a part number... £6... I was charged £15!

On OEM ones there was another black plastic bit that clips onto the back of each one (each side shaped differently) and these was to direct the airflow. I cat remember what it was to cool but it was meant for hotter countries but VW dropped ten early on as it wasn't needed

Nodz thank you very much for the pics/info!
If anyone knows if putting these grills on my car (THAT HAVE NO BACKING PLATES/DUCTS) will do any damage to internals can you let me know please?

They dont do any damage

Not at all, a lot of people remove the backing when running bigger inter cooler pipes like the twintercooler. Other people remove them for looks. Don't make any difference apart from road dirt getting in
