Title: Dealer service
Post by: Richhero on March 02, 2013, 02:59:20 pm
Does anyone know whether, as part of a minor/major service, the dealers take the wheels off for t'purposes of checking brakes etc? Reason being is that I went to get a tyre changed today and the locking wheel bolt is stuck solid. Garage I went to thinks that someone has over-torqued it with a wheel gun and the last lot to have the car for anything was a minor service at a dealer last June.

Ta in advance.

I wouldn't have thought so as they normally have it up on a ramp which makes the brakes visible from inside

They say they remove them to check but I would have thought they just did a visual check.

Thats annoying, possibly just trying to blame the dealer, but the only other time the wheels have been off was this time last year when I did the front brakes and they were only tightened by hand then.

I worked for vw for 3 years.....
minor service no they dont...
major service yes they do, and they do have too, too much to risk if they dont and belive me currently techs and there quality of work is under massive pressure.

try to blame them and if not ask too see the service check sheet from thr dealer from when they did the service, will allllllllll be documented on there :happy2:

VW denied doing the same thing when they had mine for major service and cambelt/waterpump
They got it off and put on a new one , it was the security bolt that they had ruined !
