Title: More door lock problems!

First my rear offside side door lock went and that was replaced, with thanks to Alex.

Today I find the front nearside door is playing up - thankfully it's not permanent. Yet! More work though.

Is it worth replacing the remaining two lock modules? Can't believe they're all starting to play up like this.

personally I would purely for piece of mind, especially as it would be a PITA if the drivers one went

My drivers side is playing up with fault code:

1 Fault Found:
00096 - Drivers Door Central Locking (Safe) Motor (V161)
            012 - Electrical Fault in Circuit - Intermittent

It seems to be a bit of job to replace the motor; how to (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,52585.0.html)

Haven't really got the time to replace this atm... Question is, how do you get in the car if both front (3dr) fail?  Through the boot?

Sounds hilarious but it's not too bad to get in via the boot. When I first bought my car and parked it in my parents' garage, I couldn't get out via the door. So used to swing left onto my front, climb through between the front seats, pull down the back seat and then use the release lever on the tailgate to escape.

Thankfully, I learnt to park the car so I could get out the door as one should.

Haha.
I don't mind getting in through the boot, it's good to know that the boot mech would still work if the door locks we're not working.
Think I'll take my door card off when I have some time and check I haven't disturbed anything (fitted chrome switches the other day).

Swapping the motor out seems a bit of a PITA and a nice dry day required - feel sorry for you mate, if you've only just done one!

I have code 00096 on my drivers door.

Before replacing the door lock control module it might be worth checking the wiring harness as the wires may be damaged or broken. See this: http://www.myturbodiesel.com/1000q/a5/wiring-harness-vw-jetta-repair.htm

Nice link there bud... I haven't bothered doing anything about mine, as it's been ok (functionally at least).  When I get some free day time I'll check it all out for sure.
Did you sort your 00096 error code out?

Just found it after a scan today. Door is working fine at the moment so I'll look at it sometime in the better weather.
