Hi All,
I thought some people might benefit from my findings since upgrading my RNS 510 version B yesterday evening.
- I took a picture of the label on top and it said it was a version B with HW: 02 and SW: 0800.
- I burned a DVD using the 3810a firmware from ww.RNSfirmware.com
-I followed the on screen instructions to do the upgrade, which was completed within an hour.
The major benefits I have noticed so far, which I was actually hunting other forums for information on:
- When streaming bluetooth audio from iphone 4S, I now get the track titles on the RNS 510 unit and within the HUD in the dashboard. I can also control the iphone via steering wheel and RNS510 unit! (BIG plus for me, Before it used to just say BT-Audio.)
- My SDHC 32gb memory card now works in the unit, and I have succesfully played music from that. Again big plus, as it wouldn't work before.
- It is easier to switch between MDI and bluetooth on screen
- the touch screen is MUCH more responsive than it was before. (I thought it was almost unusable before as it was so slow when scrolling).
- Secret menu has now appeared when you hold down setup button.
Hope this is of help to some of you who are yet to upgrade.
Tonight I am installing the new V9 maps, so can let you know how I get on with that. Apparently I should be able to enter full postcodes afterwards!
Cheers

I also did this with my A unit, then put on 4020a firmware as the 3810 split the HDD partitions (if you wanted to go one further).
Been working perfectly for months now and also V9 maps work fine.
-
Cool are there any additional benefits to the 4020a over the 3810a that you can tell me of?
-
I have no idea, sorry.
I'm sure on my-gti website there is a rundown of updates between versions

Is radio text on 4020? Il go out and check mine later as i have radio text on my B unit.
