Title: Help Needed !!! - Problem with DSG Gearbox
Post by: GTI-Ross on March 10, 2013, 06:02:02 pm: Got into the car for the 3rd time today, (no problems first 2 times) it wont let me me put it into manual mode. and every mode chage seemed very stiff, ie into reverse, or park.

I then got back home. tried again. i gave it a bit of a thump and it went into Manual mode, but very stiff.

Does it just need a DSG service / new oil or is this more of a problem.....anyone had it before...

Any help would be much appreciated.

What mileage are you on, has the gearbox oil been changed as per VW instruction ie every 40k?

Post by: fatty on March 11, 2013, 03:31:41 am: maybe take it to a main dealer and ask if their best tech could kindly go out with you in the car for 2 mins to diagnose.

a dealer did it for me once, no cost.

then you should know how to go about getting it sorted.

Car wouldnt go in to manual mode, was hard changing between D, N, R etc and sometimes lost all power as if it was in N with all the SDNRP flashing red.

It was the gear selector, cost £450ish i believe to get it sorted.

It wasnt the actual DSG box, just the gear selector module! I can give you the details of who sorted mine out if you are local to Bromley in Kent!
