Title: Executive Office Racing Chair....

^ Executive Office Racing Chair - 'The Monaco'

Now, is that for racing around the office!?

WHY?

Because you are a true motorsport/car enthusiast with petrol coursing through your veins.
Or, as in my case, because the all-singing n dancing mega-expensive exec office chair I bought over 25 years ago finally gave up its upholstery (and because I fancied the hot sales girlie in sheepskin boots and specs the Monaco chair the moment I saw it and Captain Sensible said it would last, just like true love).

SOURCING:

You don't honestly think I'm going to share her phone number with you, do you!
I saw it as a new product in a magazine in WHSmith's public library - "Performance Car" mag, I think.

FITTING:

The seat, back, arms, base, castors, all pack into a box which fits the GTI with the back seats down.
Assembly instructions are very clear and idiot-proof and it's very easy to assemble even if you are impatient to get it up.

OTHER VERSIONS:

There is a black and silver-grey Pigskin version.

Smaller synthetic cloth versions in colours which are too bright. Cheaper, about £170 instead of about £330 but won't last as long and not as comfortable or with as much adjustability.

PLUS POINTS:

The most important plus of all for any chair - Comfort! Every time I sit in it I think of that hottie in specs how extremely comfortable it is. You can go to sleep in it. It has adjustable lumbar support. Its castors look like mini RS4 alloys! Being Pigskin it will last many years. It also looks very stylish. It's very good value for money - The Recaro office chairs cost over £2,000.

MINUS POINTS:

It's big!! It may not fit in with the decor of your room (or wifey might fancy herself as your interior decorator and not approve).
If your non-motoriing enthusiast friends don't already think you are mad, they definitely will after they see you in this chair! Who the feck cares!

SUMMARY:

I spend a lot of time in it and I can't fault it.

* I'll post more pics when I get some.

Because the back of the chair is so tall (great for head support and sleep!), when I come into the room I often get a scare because it looks like someone (unknown) is in my chair! It's sort of head-and-shoulders shaped.

We've had one of those for a while now in SWMBO's office.  Very comfortable and a good novelty factor too.  We saw them at an exhibition where they were on special, cost us around £160 IIRC.

Sunday has turned into Monday!! It's true - I don't have time to work!

Here's the info for you, gaz, and anyone else interested:

W: http://www.promechracing.com - Online catalogue.

E: sales @ promechracing.com - FAO Natalie (she's the most up to speed there on the chairs).

T: 01722 412233 - Ask for Natalie (and do feel free to mention my recommendation: Robin who bought and collected a red & brown "Monaco" chair).

And here's a pic of the black and grey version alongside a Series 2 : -

LOL glad I aren't the only one.  I got a chair from these guys http://www.rallyofficechairs.com/.

Yes it is a bit sad but I don't care, I find it pretty good for my back and posture.

The Recaro's are great, especially the Office Sport range, but far too much money imo.

I'm still loving mine....And am sat comfortably in it now of course!

Its castors look like mini RS4 alloys!

Any sign of white worm - or are they holding it off?  And what tyres - PS2s or F1s?

Truely bonkers - but utterly great, love it Red! :happy2: :happy2:

.... :signLOL: Very good indeed, mate!

F1's of course! No sign of white worm as it's always indoors. I'm trying to work out a way of fitting DRL's but no joy so far

These many months later I still think it's a great chair (Gawd, I spend enough time in it!).

I was thinking of a decent 'executive' chair to use at home. £330 is within budget.

How does the lumbar support adjust? Is it electronic like in the GTI?

....No electrics. A 'resistance' knob adjuster on the side. Like most things, it's best to go and see one and try it out. It's a big chair, not all-singing-dancing but very comfortable indeed. I've gone to sleep in mine before now.

Sounds very comfortable. Does it also ensure a good posture? And can you slouch when you want to?

....What's posture? - Just joking - It's a big chair (hence great for slouching) and so the front to back size of the seat is relatively long and so possibly not the greatest for posture if it's critical for you. I'm slightly confused here because aren't good posture and slouching totally contradictory?

I don't want to be responsible for you spending whatever this chair now costs just based on my review. It's not the ultimate for lumbar/posture adjustability but it's not as expensive as those that are good at that. The bottom line is though that it's very comfortable and the pigskin leather is wearing extremely well.

It's kinda contradictory. I want a chair that encourages a good posture to avoid developing back problems in old age yet comfortable enough to slouch in if I wanted to. I've come across a few such chairs previously but never really bothered to find out the make/model at the time.
