Hi guys you may not remember me  but I'm sure you do??
I'll be soon getting rid of the bus and looking for a new car, now I'm stuck in a dilemma choosing between the mk6 eddy35 or waiting for the mk7 gti and putting the optional performance pack on it. I know a few of you guys have had the pleasure of owning the ed35 so would like to hear what you think/thought of it.
I've found one on the trader for a decent price high spec in white 5 door dsg, I've also found another that has more or less every extra on it same colour but 3dr, don't think I need a 5dr any more has the other half sits in the front a lot more now to warm her booty up on these cold days!!!
I would love to wait for the mk7 gti to one out but do you think there is gonna be a big enough benefit of waiting??
Cheers guys cannot wait to get back in a VW :happy2:

Hi Darren,
You want a Golf R forget about the 35 its a nice enough car but the R looks more sexy from the front and the 4wd .
-
If you have the patience of a saint then I'd wait to get the mk7.
If your anything like me then there's no way I'd be able to wait so I'd go for an ed35!
Regardless of what you get, it will be great to see you back in a Vw! You might even buy another vcds :signLOL:

Hi Darren
Nice to see you're back! I'd say get a mk6 of some kind for a year or two and then, after they've ironed out any teething problems (and the price has come down to something reasonable!) on the mk7 get the GTI. The mk6 GTI (including the Ed35) seems to have been a bit of a halfway-house and I don't think it's really established itself as a serious option for a lot of people. Certainly not like the mk5 did!
I'm a bit in the same boat at the moment but am still really happy with my mk5 - partly thanks to the 'additions' that you helped with!
Hope everything is good with you and looking forward to the new build thread whatever it may contain!
All the best
Paul.

Yes also considering the R
I'll definitely get another vcds lead Ian could have done with keeping mine but stupid things are done in the heat of the moment when you need a bit of spare money.

Cheers Paul :happy2:

Good to see you back on here Daz_as mentioned the golf r looks a good option now

Hi Darren,
Personally I'd stick with a MKVI for now. As Paul has already mentioned a new platform can throw up a few niggles and for that reason the tried and tested MKVI platform is a better bet. The engine in the ED35/R is a real cracker and I guess it depends whether you want wheelspin and torque steer or grip
I know you are a big diesel fan, so have you not considered the GTD with a DPF delete and map. That would give you over 200bhp and humps of torque, but still give you the mpg you've become used to. The Ed30 will only average mid 20mpg over its life and the R will be around 20-22mpg average. Take the MKVII mpg figures with a pinch of salt too.
John.

I'm actually a massive petrol head John, the golf gt I had was ment to be a stop gap just like this zaffy I have now :ashamed: I had previously been through all the usual hot hatches focus st, scooby so on and so on.
It was time to get my heart going again the zaffy has given me a little taste of the good stuff, cracking engine and sounds great but I miss the quality of the VW, I did put a deposit down on a 59 plate S3 sport back but the lass at the Audi dealership pissed me about so I cancelled it :fighting: I've actually found both the Golf R and the ed35 with similar spec in white for he same price £23k the R is a 3dr and the ED a 5dr both DSG but the ED is fully loaded so gonna have to go test driving
P.S got used to doing 16-18mpg in the zaffy so the mileage not a massive problem. And Gemma only works round the corner and I use the bike for work :innocent:

Hi Darren
Golf R or ED35 would be good choices
-
I'd go for a Golf R mate!! Look awesome and 4wd is awesome! :) :happy2:
-
Good to have you back. I'd go mk6 gti/35/r the mk7 would be nice but there will be the usual vw supply and demand problems to start with plus the usual waiting times and there are some cracking deals on fully loaded mk6's at the moment.
-
I'd wait for the Mk7 GTI. Order book opens in UK dealerships on March 26th!! :happy2:

I agree I would get an R or M135i if budget allowed
-
I am in the same boat i have been wanting something new for a while. I cannot decide what I want. I Went to look at a lotus exige but after trying to get into and out of it i swiftly moved off that idea(6ft4). I am now back looking at the e90 m3 and the mk6 golf r and even all dare i say it a porsche cayman s :ashamed:

I'm biased, but this^^^^^^^ is the best option. :happy2:

Hi Darren, good to see u back :happy2:
It's a pity u didn't stick around for the 59 plate S3, that's what I have and definitely a keeper especially when tuning her!! :driver:

I would have Justin but the spec on the Audi site was very high but after getting it confirmed and putting a £1k deposit on it then they emailed the details of the car to me and basically said sorry we got the detail wrong and it's not actually got much!!
I also didn't realise deep sea blue was neat black and I wanted a lighter colour car? I'd love an RS3 but just cannot stretch that far financially.
I know white is not THE colour anymore but it stuck on me. Either white or steel grey
-
I think I'd pick the golf r out of that list, but there is no harm in waiting for the new GTI and having a test drive before you decide, it is a big purchase. I've got to say I absolutely love the new GtI interior, as said though you are kind of venturing in to the unknown with the new platform, and no doubt there will be teething problems like on previous models, but that's what the warranty is there for !
When is the new gti due to reach the showrooms ?
-
If I was looking for a Pretol VAG it would be the Golf R, purely for sure footedness and performance.
-
Think I'm gonna wait till the new gti is out and see what it's like unless delivery is gonna be stupid 2 light years away to get a new car :(

Deliveries are in the summer. But VAG are known for delays with new models. Get an order in on Mar 26th, be one of the first and you can always cancel without penalty.

MK7 with PP. absolute no brainer.
You'll buy a 35/R, see a MK7 and read all the reviews praising how awesome it is and hate your car. Irrational, as both are excellent... But it'll happen.
Comes with a diff, far less weight, a very fancy RenautlSport style front suspension and it'll hold it's money far better than the older car. What's not to like?
Early car niggles? Meh, it has a warranty. Tuning? Who is to say it isn't the next 'best tuneable engine ever'.
Oh, and you can still get in an M135i for £27k with discount, just sayin...

That's really bad on Audi's part.
To be honest when I was looking (for ages) the Audi dealerships messed me around as well. Can you believe they wouldn't even take me for a test drive, as they said I wasn't happy with their part ex figure for my GTi so I was wasting their time
I just kept looking and found a private sale fully loaded ex demo car
RS3 will be next, too expensive for me at the moment too.
-
Good to see you back on here Darren  I would go for the R or the S3 :happy2:
-
I wouldnt buy the mk7 GTI new, you will get hit hard on depreciation over 2 years. Also the LSD isnt a proper mechanical diff apparently.
Get a 2 year old R :happy2:
-
The R is a great car - has its problems though, main one for me being it attracts thieving fooking scum bags
:fighting: :fighting: :fighting: :fighting: :fighting: :fighting: :fighting: :fighting: :fighting: :fighting: :fighting: :fighting: :fighting:
