Title: Microfibre Cloth's/Applicator Pad's
Post by: Mr Savage on March 13, 2013, 01:32:31 pm
Right so i've been gradually collecting my detailing products and now it comes down to the applicator pads and microfibre cloths which seem like they'll cost me a hidden fortune! I've priced them up and it's around £50 just for all my pads and cloths. What's the cheapest and easiest ways you guys do this as it seems a really excessive price to pay.

The products I have at the moment are:

AutoFinesse Clay Bar
Autogylm Super Resin Polish (As I don't have a machine buffer)
Poorboy's White Show Glaze
Chemical Guy's Jetseal 109
Poorboy's Natty's Paste Wax

Now am I right in understanding that I need 4 different microfibre towels and 4 different applicators for all of these? They are priced at around £6 each (the towels) and pads are a few quid each too so it really add's up! I would also think it best to have them all different colours so you don't get them mixed up for their various jobs.

Then of course an applicator is needed for the tyre dressing, a towel for the glass and windows and oh the list goes on and on and on!

Cheers guys,
Ryan

...microfibre towels...applicators...around £6 each
Where are you buying them from? Swissvax?  :stupid:

As above, buy in bulk.

I tend to get my stuff from Elite car care and they have 6 applicators for £6, and multipurpose microfibres at 10 for £10 - so both items £1 each. Can be bought cheaper elsewhere. Beware applicators off egay - they tend to from china and are cheap tat.

FWIW, you'll use microfibres and applicators more than anything.

Haha, I was looking on waxamomo and polished bliss since they have the 3 for 2 on AutoFinesse products. I was looking at the individual towels by Dodo, Chemical Guys and Poor Boy's. The cheapest towels on their are £5-6 and the cheapest applicators are a few quid each. But yes bulk buying looks to be much much better.

Cheers guys,

Those towels are drying towels, not buffing towels, hence the cost. Usually 1-2 drying towels are enough for the whole car.

The drying towels are £10-12 each! They are listed under polishing towels for "buffing off glaze and polishes". But yes it definitely looks like there are better places to get hold of them.

I use the dodo juice super soft drying towel it's a big yellow one! And is double stitched so like two in one! Really worth the little extra for that! Then I have mainly meguires applicator pads come in 2 or 3 pack. For buffing cloths I use the elite own brand grey ones with a black edging as they have a slightly denser microfibres on one side so work well for removing wax and then flipping over for buffing up. Buying in bill for towels are always best :) good luck
