Title: New member - Existing VW enthusiast - Edition 30 Daily (Portsmouth)
Post by: tfsi_syncro on March 15, 2013, 01:52:04 pm
Hi All,

I registered to the forum a while ago, mainly to help with research for my Mk5 powered Mk1 caddy (WIP).

I have recently (4 weeks ago) purchased a Mk5 to perform the daily duties. The MPG averaging 31 - 34 is a bit of a killer but well worth it

I thought it was about time I introduced myself and my mk5 so here goes:

I'm Craig, I live just outside Portsmouth, I work for a SolidWorks (3D CAD) re-seller (If you work with SW please get in-touch as its always interesting to talk to engineers with the same Obsession, I mean hobby as me  :happy2: )

About the Ed30.........

Edition 30
50k on the clock
Full VWSH
5 door
rear tint window
Standard (for the moment)

Soon to have the following (once I've collected all the bits!)

Rev D DV.
MFSW
RNS-510
OEM Blue tooth handsfree
Cruise control
Center arm rest with MDI install.

I told myself when I bought it that I was not going to modify it although I am already on the slippery slope toward the inevitable!!

I've justified the mods above due to need the car for work - I need to be comfortable although I've caught myself looking at a Milltek no res system, APR fuel pump, CAI kit and also re-maps at JKM (Local to me).... DANGER haha

Anyway, here a little pic of my car

Any comments welcome, I will look forward to getting to know you all.

Are there any local (Hampshire) 'mk5 meets'?

Welcome along, another hampshirite here too ..

Mc71 is correct, use the rev G and sell the Rev D. Boosts much smoother with the correct G valve that's specified on the Ed30 engine  :happy2:

Thanks for the advice. Is there anywhere else that you can recommend getting one from apart from the 'Stealers'? What do they normally go for?

I do go on the caddy forum but I don't have a build thread - Do you use the forum?

Hayling isn't far at all as I'm in Havant :-)

I have been to some of the Dubscene meets but not in the Ed30. I will try and make the next one, are you going to be there?

From the VW main dealer they are only about £35. Part number is 06H 145 710 G. If you can't get to the main dealer then try TPS or get one from eBay.....
