Title: Fuel Filter
Post by: gigolo456 on March 17, 2013, 06:51:16 pm
Hi Guys and Gals, having quite a bit of work done at Statllers in the week ahead and wonder if it's worth also getting the fuel filter changed as well!!?? My GTi has only 52k miles on the clock, and it was last changed about 20k miles ago in 2010, so is it worth changing again or is this overkill and i should save my pennies?? (for a change!!)

Cheers

I changed mine for the first time at 50k, didn't notice any difference tbh.

If you run yours on good quality fuel, may be best to leave it for a while?

As VW don't have the fuel filter as a service item (at all), 20k is perhaps quite soon, good quality fuel like vPower will help things in that department.  For peace of mind, perhaps 40/60k. :happy2:

I have one in the shed brand new in the box.  £7 delivered?  Will only take Steve a couple of minutes to change while its on the ramp.

It's classed as a lifetime part apparently but for a few quid, why not.  It is a filter after all.

Mike do you know if it's a 6.4 or a 6.6 bar relief valve one?

The latest version is 1K0201051K for the 6.6bar prv one. The filter itself will have 6.6 engraved on it.
