For a few months now I've had a 2 second clatter/rattle from under the car when pulling away, specifically when:
1st gear, top of the clutch, applying gas from standstill - doesn't happen if applying a lot of revs
2nd gear applying gas fairly heavily from 5/10mph - eg between speedbumps
3rd gear sometimes if travelling sub 20mph
Basically at any point when the gear selected is a touch too high for the speed, but during normal driving.. eg 2nd gear between high speed bumps where you need to slow down a lot. It's just a noise, can't feel any vibration through the pedals.
Clutch feels fine, no slipping in any gear. Noise is much worse when car is cold.
Had the car on axle stands and couldn't see anything loose/broken, checked exhaust mounts.
Any suggestions guys?!

Might be your dual mass flywheel going?

Mine had a similar rattle. Turned out to be the Intake heatsheild, One of the bolts has come loose.

got a similar rattle growl where can i find the intake heatshield help please cheers

The intake heatsheild will only be present on your car if you have a supermarket one. although i would describe it as a growl.

Quick update on this, noise is still there and did a quick test this eve when the engine was warm.
When stationary in idle can hear a faint rattle/knock from lower engine bay, not that noticeable over the usual TFSI noises, also feels like it's idling a little rough and can feel a few vibrations in the cabin (needle doesn't move), exhaust note isn't constant and suggests a rough idle. Depress the clutch and the knocking noise goes away, idle feels smooth with no vibrations at all and exhaust note becomes constant.
DMF on the way out?!
Or something cheaper hopefully to do with clutch mechanism??
