Hi guys,
My car is running an R-tech stage 1 custom map and runs best on Shell Vpower (99ron). Work pay for all my fuel (even social) but they have a account with a total garage that only has total excellium (97 ron).
Are there any additives that actually increase the RON rating of fuel so i can run excellium with an additive to achieve the 99 ron my car runs well on.
or is it a case of walking away from free fuel and using VPOWER?
cheers

think Millers do an additive - vrs alex sells it - not cheap but if you are getting free fuel who cares !

Methanol ;)

Gone with the millers stuff.

got 5 bottles to see how it goes.
will feed back with my findings. :happy2:

Keep an eye on your spark plugs as they will end up with a brown coating that will build up from the additive.

Thanks Kris, so this is not a long term solution?
will uprated spark plug help with this? i am no mechanic or technical genius so apologies if that is a ridiculous question?
would just be nice to utilise work being so generous as to pay for all my fuel. I am still pushing to get an account with Shell! :happy2:

Its just a natural build up, uprated plugs will give some improvement with a cleaner burn but TBH on the old Jap scoobs we used to pull the plugs out every 1k or so and clean them up and repalce after 5k

So after a few tanks of the 97 ron fuel and the millers additives i have notice no real difference in how the car feels/runs. Still feels better on Vpower in my opinion. This could just be that i know Vpower is the better fuel (fifth gear eddy35 at Rtech and all).
All i have noticed is that i have had more soot on the exhaust, is this just the millers additives cleaning the build up?
was worth a try any way.

Your thoughts back up what a few of us think.
I read an article/test review in a magazine a year or 2 ago which compared half a dozen different additives on a rolling road. All bar one gave a small loss in power! The one that did improve power only gave about 1BHP. Fuel consumption was no better or worse.
Their conclusion - not worth the money.
If I can find the link I will post it.

I'm in a similar position...read that 99 RON is best for the TFSI, but my company would crucify me if I filled up with V-Power.
Think I might just accept that I won't be getting the best out of the motor.

May be worth asking Nick to optimise your map for 97RON, you may lose a couple of horses but saves the faffing around with the additives :happy2:
