Title: Sports Cat + OEM Cat-back
Post by: tartanmartin85 on March 23, 2013, 01:48:54 pm
Does anyone have a 100/200 cell Sports cat combined with the OEM cat-back?

I'm considering this as a means to go Stage 2 and was wondering what the exhaust note is like when you change out the cat only....?

I'm currently Bluefin stage 1.

Ive had it on both my last 2 cars and have it on my current car as well.  You get all the power gains of a full turbo back exhaust with maybe 10% of the extra noise.  Most noticeably the engine note is deeper, but still not intrusive.  Its the best setup IMO.

Sounds ideal to me! What are the best options for sports cats? Milltek/BCS?

Also is a 200 cell best to avoid MOT issues?

This would have been my setup if I'd kept the GTI.

Also the setup I'd be looking at too, I want the gains and not the noise!

a 200 cell downpipe will pass the MOT everytime with no issues.  You'll only have issues with a deCAT and potentially a 100 cell CAT.

I had a pipewerx 3" downpipe before and that was phenomenal quality.  I bought it second hand from a guy that had it fitted to his car for 40k.  I had it on mine for 25k, and sold it to someone else who has done about 60k.  Its still going strong now!!

That sounds excellent, you've made my mind up!

Just need to get the pennies saved and maybe keep an eye out for 2nd hand one....
