Title: Removed RCD 500 and fitted RCD 510 aerial issue
Post by: craigy123 on March 23, 2013, 01:53:24 pm
I've changed the head units over but the connections for the aerials were different. Is there an adapter? I've got pictures to upload if need be. Everything else is working perfect.

I think you can get away with just taking off the plastic outer.

Yeah that's exactly what you need dude, also might be worth noting you may need an updated CAN gateway to stop battery drain depending on year of manufacture of your car.

Yep just take off the plastic covers and push the ends in to the unit - saves wasting money on the connector - did mine that way and works perfectly for well over a year

It's a 08 edition 30 so am I right in assuming there will be no need for an upgrade in gateway? And I take of you mean the ends on the connectors on the car side? Might just buy the adapter to do it right. It's only £9 odds.

Fitted an RCD510 in my Sep'07 Eddy and no battery drain. I bought the cable adapter from VW, £35 but can be had off ebay for half that.
