Title: The famous which intake
Post by: Markyed30 on March 23, 2013, 09:25:34 pm
No long had stage 1 on my ed30 and need an intake, Bsh can be had for £200 on eBay with short ram and true seal which looks good for money, others I'm looking at are nuespeed, itg, twin take ,I like noise but wouldn't compromise on performance
What you got and thoughts I've searched on all intakes but there's so much on them

Personal choose mate. If you've done a search, go with what you want. ITG, Forge, APR/VWR, REVO or EVOMS are your main contenders, all do the same thing with various degrees of heavy breathing involved.

I'd like a bit more induction roar without spending a packet. Not too worried about the incremental horsepower gain because I'm already nudging 240bhp.

Any suggestions Chaps?

TIA

^^^^ not sure about "roar"?

As I posted (a couple of posts back in this thread) already, they all have some noise associated with them, EVOMS or Neuspeed P-Flo are relatively cheap so start your search there.

Thanks Mate - I'll take a look.

My old Z4 was fitted with a 'sound generator'. No performance gain whatsoever but it fed a fantastic induction roar back into the cabin  :driver:

Your going to find it difficult to find an intake that suits your personal taste from other peoples opinions.

I have a Neuspeed intake and find the noise at low revs quite irritating to be honest.

Good point.

I bought a Blueflame back box for the same car and it was horrendously loud - droned like a Merlin engine at full chat. But the chap I bought it off absolutely loved it.

Closed cones are best of both imho - perfectly livable when tootling about, but when you get on it, they have all the noises your after.

If I were you, I'd grab a second hand one; open or closed, they are always popping up in the for sale section, then you haven't spent mega bucks, and will probably resell for not much less if you don't like it.

Av located a twintake for a good price but hope losing the low end grunt isn't overpowering, going to a rr day start of may and got stage 1 bluefin and smashing the precat out soon so soon see  :signLOL:
Ps. Took a m8 out with a standard 225 st and he was speechless with the extra power  :rolleye:

Neuspeed P-flo is nice, but fairly noisy at low/mid rpm
