Hi folks,
Having a bit of a problem with my rear wiper! I tried to turn it on in the snow and it didn't go anywhere. After inspecting it very closely i noticed it had fallen off!
Now I am left with this
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fu585%2FAndymc7%2F0fe0e06100b14c293b072d4dd81f5648_zps5409b65e.jpg&hash=a689c490d0352eb6922e8d0e72166ee18f44a64a)
Any ideas how I'm meant to get this middle metal bit off? I have tried everything from soaking it in WD40 and attacking it with pliers to trying to get under it with a chisel and screwdriver! Don't want to try anything too extreme in case I wreck the whole thing.
Cheers
Andy

To get rid off the metal bit you need to remove the boot trim on the inside.. Then unplug the motor and unscrew 3 screw holdin the motor in place then it'll just pull through.
Here's the guide I used to de-wiper mine.

i dont think you need to remove the whole wiper, it looks like that is the nut thats usually inside he wiper arm and its just stuck on the spline, some wd30 sprayed on it an a puller tool should sort it out then just get a new wiper arm and pop it back on if the splines on the wiper motor spindle arent damaged :happy2:

I would try Mole grips or cut it with a Dremmel.

As above, if it won't prise off easily then cut off some of the metal so you create a weak point, then hopefully it flexes a bit easier and will snap off the wiper motor shaft splines. It's probably corroded itself onto the shaft over time which is why it is now completely stuck. I had the same problem when fitting my reversing camera and had to cut the wiper blade off in this way.

common sense, just get a hacksaw on it. Then go into the boot, remove back panel, and remove the whole motor. Bung up sorted.

Exactly same thing happened to me also! :sad1:
I just took the nut off after using some WD40, popped the old wiper arm off as the metal was broken!..Then i just bought a new one (Ebay £11.99 including wiper blade) fired it on and looks as good as new! :happy2:

Cheers folks, I had a feeling magic wasn't the answer. I will get my tools out at the weekend and show it who's boss!
