Title: Help required
Post by: Jonny on March 27, 2013, 06:36:52 am
Just a quick question, going for a stage 2 remap eventually down the lines... My question is... will this exhaust be suitable?

Thanks in advance

Your oem t/b or c/b is sufficient for the change in boost. The GTI oem is 2-3/8" and the R32 oem is the same diameter. All tests and write-ups I read for the first three years we had the mkv, nobody ever showed a hp gain with an exhaust mod after a remap. There were many shops modding to stage 2 and they would all dyno the cars: stock, with an intake, after remap, and finally after a turbo back. The reports were all the same showing the same hp after a remap as they did when the exhaust was added afterward. The one you are looking at should be sufficient. They will tell you you need a dp, but you don't. I ran a stage 2 remap with the oem t/b and it ran 14.1 et's at 100mph with an intake and remap. I eventually upgraded when I installed my K04, but only up to a 2.5" t/b. Whether or not the R32 c/b is going to fit the gti dp perfectly...I couldn't tell you.

depends whether you want to go for a de-cat or one with a cat in. A brand new milltek de-cat is around £370 one with a cat will be around £700. Be aware a de-cat will not pass an mot

Ok one more stupid question... Can the exhaust system hyperlinked be altered to have a downpipe? Sorry for the complete idiocy, I have no clue when it comes to this stuff :-P

Or will this system be fine for a stage 2 remap. Just need to clarify everything as I don't want to buy it to find out I need a new one just for stage 2  :happy2:

Ummm...I thought it wasn't oem...due to the mufflers.

Again, I believe you will be fine without a DP, but some tuners will be hard-nosed about it and may refuse to remap until it meets the file's mod requirements. Mine wasn't that way, and it proved to not be necessary. You will have to tell them what you want and wait to hear what they say about it.
