Title: Symptoms of CF failure?

Morning wise ones..

Was topping up my screen wash yesterday and the engine was running..  The engine was warm. I noticed a fairly loud tapping noise coming from the engine close to the screen wash filler. Could this be early signs of CF failure?  Has anyone got a link to a video of the problem??  Is it something an unskilled but carefull home mechanic (i.e. me!) can do or does it mean a visit to a friendly garage??  If so, what's the usual cost to supply (genuine VAG part) and fit?

I suspect that the noise is coming from elsewhere and not from your cf. Only way to be 100% sure is to eyeball it.

Ahh... Yes... Am popping on Saturday at some point and will be competing in the sprint on Monday but will be in the lotus both times. Will you be at the track day?  If so - what car? I'll come and say hi...
