Title: does an mk6 golf rear hatch vw handle fit on an mk5 golf?

hi guys
got some questions for you.... :jumpmove:
i purchased an mk6 golf rear hatch vw round handle for my mk5 golf....

is it a perfect fit?

will it work perfectly?

i read something about trimming some lttle plastic peices that extrude?

all info on this swap is very much appreciated by someone WHO HAS DONE THIS... :happy2:

is the plug the same on the back?

i purchased this because its really cool looking , the 3d effect!
and better looking than the flat thing handle....

also dosnt this have that slow return effect like the mk5 one does?

looking forward to some input , as im wanting to do the swap this this afernoon.....

Yes it's a straight plug and play swap. No they are not slow closers, only the early Mk5 (non 3D versions) did that IIRC, the Mk5 3D versions did not.

Hardest part in changing over the 2 mechanisms is removing the rear tailgate plastic cover, right PITA.  :happy2:

SWAP...Done!

there is a small issue though?
small small, but sorted.....

the plug that goes on the back of the boot handle on an mk6 is in a different position...and the wires that goes on the  plug handle are short....... :scared:

so i had to start pulling wires down till it reached, plugged it in ...works like a charm!

the damn plastic panels were a hell of job to get off.....!!!!!!!!! :laugh: :laugh:
pull pull...and they snap off...but a real bitch to do!

all pretty and finished!
