Title: Tornado Red or Lazer Blue?
Post by: Steviedubs on March 30, 2013, 12:05:00 am
So I'm starting to look at getting a GTI and have narrowed down to these two colours, so just want to gauge you guys opinions on which colour to plump for?

Cheers Steve

I own a laser blue and as well a being quite rare there isn't a better colour for the Gti when it's sunny, looks superb. The other colour I really like is blue graphite.

I'm a bit biased as I've got laser blue but going for that will limit you to older cars as the colour got dropped so I think the newest car  I've seen it on is an 06 plate. The advantage you can get it with the original spec like blue tinted windows, aerial in the rear window not the roof and other bits before the cost cutting measures come in. The downside is that they will be older cars with high mileage.

With tornado red it was always available so you have more choice in age and mileage. It was also available on the Edition 30 so again another option to consider.

I'm obviously going to say Red (im on my 4th one in a row ) but that Blue is gorgeous in the flesh/metal as the chaps above will testify too.

If you have no preference between the 2 colours then I'd say find a car (in either colour) in the right age, spec your after and then decide. You'll be happy with which ever you get.

Well I've found a 05 plate Lazer blue GTI on 74k with nav, xenons, heated leather, highline, centre armrest that's taken my fancy for £6,995 does that sound a good price?

Laser Blue for me between those two (even though I had a Red one before I got my Candy White!) - having seen Laser Blue in the metal it is a truly lovely colour.

Lazer blue, a friend of mine has one with custom leather/alcantara seats with blue stitching, would take it anytime over my own black gti, and as stated only available the first 2 years so über rare
