Finally fitted my VZ today with new rubber after taking winter tyres off.
Mike's 996tt kit was put on by Alex the other week.
The alloys go on with a spacer but I thought QD managed to fit a BBK with VZ without spacer (Dave B to confirm how?)
Rubbing occurs when hitting a piece of road which is not even at a fair speed, I have already done the screw arch mod.
Just spoken to Alex briefly about this so do I now need to consider getting my arches rolled or does anyone have any other trick solutions? :sad1:

What size tyres do you have on?

What size tyres do you have on?
hi nath, just the normal 225/40/18 pal

What size spacers are they?

Hi joe, 10mm h & r.
could maybe get away with 8mm but dont think calipers will fit over anything much smaller...

To be honest with the lower offset and wider wheel you'll definitely get some rubbing as the wheels will be sticking out nearly 20mm more than the oem!
I'd go for the lowest spacer you can get away with.

Plus you have the TT arms Andy, that's pushing you out another 7mm over stock

ah good point james, not thought of that

Best sotion: Kerscher fenders (or similar)! Doubt anything other than a 20mm wider fender will be ok!
My car has a similar setup and I can not imagine how much rubbing would be with ET 34 rim (ET44 + 10mm spacer) and TT arms.

There are two threads:
Wide fenders for mk5 GTI (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,36336.15.html): with a Kerscher fender (25mm more clearance) review
Carbon Wings - Feeler for GB.... (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,30168.0.html): with carbon fenders (10mm more clearance) review
Jake (danishmkvgti) had the carbon wings but they were not ok and we went for the Kerscher ones...

I would not advice the Carbon fenders, but Kerscher is a top quality kit, and you will avoid rust in them

got 3mm tpi spacers on yesterday and hoping this will have solved the issue.
so for anyone wanting to put these brakes on with vz you will need a spacer if you have TT arms fitted, but if you have the Gti arms you will probably get the BBK under the VZ with no spacer a la QD (MBE) :happy2:

TT arms does absolutly no difference regarding spacer/brake-wheel clearance.
They are only an issue regarding clearance between tyre and front wing/fender :happy2:

sorry, my problem was twofold - rubbing with a 10mm spacer and not clearing the brake caliper with no spacer, the 3mm spacer has solved both issues :pomppomp:
