Post by: torque777 on March 31, 2013, 08:02:53 am
I'm having issues with my door locks on my mk5 ..sometimes they unlock other times you have to keep pressing the remote as one door or snother just won't open ....this is a random fault but annoying ....my car is a mk5 variant 2008 with 34000 on her ...anyone else had door lock issues ????

Have you changed the battery in the remote?

Sounds like the problem I have with my 5 door. I had it scanned and the results were that one rear locking control module thing was showing implausible and the other was showing intermittent. Basically one is knackered and the other is nearly knackered. I am having both replaced. This seems to be a known if not too common problem/ issue with the mk5. Have a bash with the search function and you will find a few threads dealing with this problem. My advice is to get your car scanned to see if the problem is one of these pesky control module thingies. Good luck

Check the wiring first. The ones in the rubber boot between the door and car-these can get damaged with the constant opening&closing.

When you lock the car does the led in the door card flash quickly and then go solid red for 30 secondsish and then start the normal blinking? The solid red is an indication there is a fault with the locking system. It should (as mine does now) flash quickly for a couple of seconds and then settle into the regular slower flashing. Have you got the problem sorted yet?

I don't think it flashes any faster than normal ? Tbh its getting worse ...been looking on ebay at new door modules but they are not genuine at £44 but am wondering how good they are as it will save me some cash lol ....it sounds slow and lazy compared to all the other doors ?
