Getting a really annoying squeak from my intake, I've read this a lot on other forums and is common with CAIs... Not just on the GTI, has anyone experienced this? Are there any fixes. Happens at about 3 to 4k rpm.
-
Tsi or tfsi engine? What intake do you have?
-
Tfsi, volant CAI... I've read people having this problem on twin take, plus open cones... Mostly in the states... Something to do with airflow and its just one of those things... Butivehad CAIs before that didn't make this squeal
-
ive got this problem too with my neuspeed p-flo. Few people have mentioned my air filter is too small so im hoping thats the problem, might take it off and give it a quick spin
-
my itg maxogen does it sometimes when under load

just move the filter either on or off the intake pipe and it will stop happened on my p-flo

Hmm, my power and torque is down since fitting this from standard too. I don't have the ability to remove the filter, unless I want to leave my turbo open to induction particles.
Pretty much worse case scenario ATM... The expense of the CAI, annoying squeal/squeak and down on gogo, can't be right.
-
Does the squeaking sound like a High Frequency sweap.... bit like alternator interference?
-
No not really mate the tone doesnt change, Might have something to do with the maf seating... Perhaps its leaking around its fitting slightly... ( Will try some silicone seal ) Bit disappointed by the drop in power more than anything. I've ruled out dv... And done the PCV test, and also had the PCV off whilst doing my cam follower today... To check for sure...grumble,grumble.
I'll whack in some nology plugs and the rev g dv, and retest, although I'm almost certain it won't make any difference.
-
You shouldnt have a drop in power... thats for sure.
It wont be the maf housing... dont seal it, thats a bad idea!

Think this was looked into a while ago, with no definitive answer.
Only seems to happen with K03 turbos - mine used to make the high pitched squeal under full load, and used to drive me mad. Doesn't happen with a K04 tho, so I'd advise a change of turbo :signLOL:

I have a K04 with ITG and I have never had a squeak :)
