When I bought my new GTD it came fitted with the standard RCD310 (non DAB). I've subsequently fitted an RNS510. The RCD310 has been sitting in a cupboard gathering dust ever since but I am now thinking of selling it. Looking at eBay it is probably worth £40 to £50 max. I don't have the code for it, so would need to get this before I sold it. I understand that I should be able to get my local dealer to tell me the code free of charge. Has anybody got any experience of doing this? Do they need to inspect the vehicle/radio? Does the radio need to be installed in the car for them to do it?
Basically, is it an easy job to get hold of the code or should I just save myself loads of hassle and keep the RCD310 under the stairs in case I need to refit it to the car one day?

Keep the 310 and refit it back in the car when you sell it. At least you will then be able to sell the RNS 510 and get some of that money back too :happy2:

Might as well keep it for when/if you sell the car.
Under the stairs it goes
