Today I decided to give the edition an oil change. Think a few will no where this is going. So drained the oil from the sump first, followed by the filter. Next job is too remove the filter housing. Hahaha what a joke, I put the 38mm socket on and snap! The bloody nut snapped clean off the housing. Any ideas how to go about this now. I've ordered a replacement from Tps.

Weld a new one on or drill the centre out.
-
Get an oil filter removal wrench on it. A chain/strap one will get it off.

Its hard work getting it off with a wrench there's no room. I had the same problem. Rough up the outside first as its dead smooth. Let me know how you get on. Bend your handle of the wrench 90 degrees to make it easier.

Well it's off had to drill a hole in it and play around. All done new one on order from Tps. £38.00 thank god thanks for the advice guys :happy2:
-
can you explain how you actually got it off with hole in it?
Cheers

Expensive enough for a piece of plastic! I'm pretty sure I've seen metal aftermarket ones to prevent it from happening again

Awesome GTI do a billet aluminium replacement for £60, I tried to get one last week, but they couldn't get one for a couple of weeks, so got a genuine replacement form VW for £46.
