hi all, looking to fit an aux port in my ED 30, tonight i pulled everything apart to check my headunit model and turns out it is a rcd 300 and couldn't figure out how the standard parts would fit? has anyone done this using the standard bits? or know if its possible?
thanks
Dan

Nobody out there that can help? :(

I'm also interested; my Jetta has the RCD300 too. While the radio reception is brilliant, there's only so much crap I can listen to on it before I lose my mind...

Have a read of this:

I've not done this myself, but from what I have read, as you haven't got an MDI interface installed then you need to run the 3 cables to the connector on the back of the head unit instead as explained here:

If you've already got a CD changer then it's a simple case of adding these 3 wires into the existing 12 pin CD connector on the back of the radio. If no you will need that connector too.

Hi guys,
I got this for my rcd300 and also got the additional Bluetooth option, works well as allows me to have my iPod plugged in and can control from steering wheel, and also stream music from my iPhone, plus you can keep your cd changer if you have one.

:happy2: cheers guys so lookin at that thread it seems it can be done, I did have a quick look at the back of the h/u but couldn't find any spare slots for the cable to go in though :/ also some say you need the plastic connector for the back of the h/u and others say you don't :s lol

Search in google images for: quad lock VW. The first image that comes up shows the connector with both a blue and green connector added into the bottom section of the quad lock connector. You will only have these if you already have other extras such as the CD changer. The 3 aux wires go into one of these two connectors. I can't remember off hand which one it is but it's the same one as for the CD changer and the sticker on the top of the radio will tell you which pins it is you need to connect to (as does the online guide I posted).
Alternatively, this is currently for sale on the forum:

Don't know whether it is the correct model for an RCD300 but I suspect it is. You can always ask the seller.

ah that makes sense, i took a photo of the sticker on the radio itself....

although i only remember seeing two connectors in the big block?

We're starting to get to the limits of my knowledge now but the aux connects to some of the pins in the top right hand part of the picture. Unfortunately the sticker only labels the CD pins not the aux pins. I don't know whether this means your radio can't take an aux connection or whether it is just that they haven't been labelled. You'll have to rely on someone else's experience for this.
