Bought it when he was 22... spend thousands on doing up with his dad who worked for jaguar.
3 months to do the paint, 13/14 coats if I remember correctly.
It won all the concourse (aka show and shine) at the jag shows/events.
Sold it for £65K a while back... would be worth twice that now....

Lol I was going to say, £65..
What a nice old motor.. do love an old Jaaaaaaaaaaag.. especially the Mk2s to be honest. I wouldn't imagine he had a build thread or a sort of documentation of the restoration?
-

Hes also got about 5/6 certificates from when he won... which he did every show (except on, when he was beaten by the head of the jaguar xk150 owners club)

Stunning car. I've met (through my dad who has an S1 E Type) a few peeps with various XK's, truly beautiful cars. Give me a classic DHC any day.
Chap I met at a show once (with a XK) spent £8k IIRC on his concourse paint job! Probably your friend!!

It wouldn't surprise me if it was 8k. And this was early 90s. So you could almost double that today

Have just started re watching the TV Series "Robbie Coltrane: B-Road Britain" on ITV3 HD on Wednesday's at 21.00, a rather beautiful XK150S is his transport for the series.
