Right, so Im at work on a night shift my mind is wandering & iive pretty much read all the build threads already!
sooo....
If you had 5 grand, and 5 grand only to buy you a car in this day and age that would have to last you for the rest of your days what would it be...
must be a car that was produced in the last 20 years....
off we go :)
-
I'd forget forced induction, would have to be NA.
It then depends whether it needs to be frugal or not.
If so, probably some Jap crap.
If not probably a nice straight six BM. Unless i can choose my current car?
-
Current car is probably a good shout, guessing its a mk5?
-
Yep ed30...I'll stick with my current car and pocket the 5k
-
Honda Intergra Type R in DC2 form, Owned two of these a few years ago and they are a bery hard car to beat handling wise for the money!
So much fun was had in mine
-
Starting to see a few 3.2S Boxsters at £5k so I'd choose one of those.
-
Since you want a car to last you the rest of your days, what is your estimated life expectancy??
-
Ex London Taxi cab?
-
Hmm, assuming no mechanical problems, probably (get ready for blasphemy) a Nissan Silvia Q's. Ready modified. Lovely looking vehicles and great for drifting.
-
Toyota Corolla not the best but all the taxi drivers have them round here so go on forever!
-
Depends what you want. I'll mix the list up for you -
Integra DC2
Clio 182
Fabia VRS
Jaguar X type
Jaguar XK8
530 D
840/850 Ci
Volvo S/C70's
Depends what you want.
-
A Jaguar X-Type? I'm not sure I can think of a worse car :signLOL:
-
Teg has to be a shout, NA and pretty impressive...
EP3 could be another option!
-
Honda Civic EK9!
-
I pulled on a V8 S-Type the other day :surprised: Surprised me, must be all that weight and slow auto box.
-
Engine wise an Ek9 is a shout... but I haaaate them with a passion after my flat mate owned 3 in short succesion each fully equipped with the biggest zooorst you could ever imagine!!
-
Mk4 R32 with a sunroof and ex USS Enterprise pool car
-
Mk2 golf GTI..... I can't think of car Ive enjoyed driving more ! Probably one of my favourite cars ever.
-
Naturally aspirated straight six BMW largest capacity I could get must be a three and an m sport!,
-
Large e class estate with a big engine.
-
Virtually no car that has been built in the last 20 would last 40 years on the road , seeing as how manufacurers pull spares off sale after 10-15 years. What with all the electronics in modern cars , plus the fact that dash warning lights are now MOT fail terriitory , I doubt anything would last. maybe if youre already about 70 you could make a car last 10 years or so. Best bet would be an MGB GT , Mini or 68-73 torsion bar flat screen Beetle , because virtually everything for those is still made.
-
The one and only..... Golf Mk2 GTI 16V.
