Slightly bigger wheels and I think it's going some way to at least not make me want to vomit.
Still wouldn't own one, but I sure as hell would love a play in one.

HOw come you wouldn't own one? I thought you really liked your RS200?
Ive not driven one yet, but the chassis is no doubt as good as if not better than its predecessor, its now got a lighter turbo charged engine producing alot more torque and it has a dual clutch gearbox. Not alot of things to go against it on that front. Granted the older model looked alot better though.
-
I like it but then again I do like Clios :stupid:
-
I think the points Chris Harris raised about Renault knowing it's target audience, i.e the RS button, the paddle shift, and the 4-doors, are extremely relevant. I love the thought of a very minimalist, stripped out Clio with a manual 'box and doors you can barely fit through, but I'm unlikely to ever buy a Renault period, so I totally accept that any opinion I have on it is meaningless.
It's still ugly though.

I loved my old clutter, it was a hoot!
I'm having a bit of a stubborn backlash against 'only available in auto' - so before all cars get ruined, I'm only buying manuals, so I can enjoy them as long as possible.
Stupid, I know...
-
Now i'm a big fan on clio's I think they are great toys... but that is all they will ever be to me - a toy!
This however looks like some sort of inbred 207/megane/clio hybrid....
So wrong but sooo right at the same time :/
-
I dont know whether it has been cup versions that I have been seeing around the country but the ruby red ones I have seen have looked great. I would have one for round town and track fun.
-
Wander how much the old RS200 will depreciate now there is a newer model out!!
I have a feeling they might hold their money a little better than expected because its a manual.
Out of interest anyone tried both cars or seen a review where they compare both?
-
The Chris Harris review that MR Parker refers to ISP good if you havnt seen it.
-
:happy2:
Just watched it. Seems a decent review. Would be good to see a new v old RS200 cup in a head to head though.
These DSG reviews irritate me. they all go on about how it ruins the drive etc, but when you see a review of a Ferrari, Lambo or Aston they dont go on abou tthe Semi Auto gearbox ruining the experience.

Big fan of the 1*2's, and again the 197's but this..... loooks sheeeet!
-
Id rather take a Clio3 Rs200 stick a 250 lump in it and LSD...... i dont like the shape of the new one.
-
I'd rather throttle body a 182! guarentee you would get more fun out of that! and youd still have a pocket full of ian beales for what it will cost to buy of these new!
Theyve taking inspiratoon from a bleeeding focus Im sure!
-
for a small hatch can never beat an honda ek9 !
-
I hated this when I first saw it , it is growing on me now though. Id still rather have a Megane 265 though , if I wanted a Renault.

I had an r27 f1 in ly from new 57 plate was on its 3rd box by 30 k miles handles broke a snapped spring had to do all disks n pads, Since selling ball joints have went coil packs window wipers failed and a drive shaft, had 2 clio's and a megane f7r 16v before it all with a lot of problems so I'm not going back as much as I love the handling and braking on the r27, Looking forward to there new gearbox coming out don't see it being reliable :signLOL:
-
Was it drawn up by the same design team that did the current BMW 1 series? Both always reminds me of this -->
Not particularly pretty but the Evo review of it said it's good. Apparently not as engaging as the previous 200, but better in other ways.
-
Has that been lightly 'shopped, as the rear door shutlines seem barely visible (if at all...)??
I gotta say, I had a Clio R27 before the Golf and it was a hell of a lot more reliable. Also, the paint stayed on the car, rather than chipping off copiously and it didn't go rusty either, unlike this German piece of crap.
-
You seem more accustomed with clio-sport.net Si
I don't think the 'fast' Clio in a 5 door is particularly right, given the heritage of the 172, 182 and 197/200 all being 3 doors. I guess the F1 car that influenced it all was technically a 0 door though
Still not won over on the looks, I'd take your old R27 any day!...

Never been on Cliosport in my life, Pete. If I'm honest, I found all the Renault forums too precious and fanatical about the Renaultsport brand which was rather tiresome after a while.
-
Saw one on the A34 on route to Rtech... And it looks pants
Not keen on the new look at all.. Much prefer the looks of the old model.

Is that why you changed it for an R32?
-
Are you implying VAG forums are the same, Ian? :surprised:
The wife made me change it! Also I wanted something a little more rounded. The Clio was a great B road car, but a terrible major road one. It was doing 4000 rpm at 75 on the clock and it got boring not being able to hear the radio whenever I drove it on the motorway. It was no better on fuel either at about 25 mpg average...
There was loads of things I preferred about it, though. Little things like the wing mirrors not falling off and the climate control actually working. Didn't squeak, creak and rattle like a Golf either!

All forums are going to be biased to the brand, Renaultsports forums " fastest cars on track", golf forums " my car is faster than a Lamborghini and any other car is badly built" bmw forums "I'm bigger and have more money than you" blah blah.
As for the new Clio, I don't like the idea of it but after seeing monkeys review I think he has a point, it's a young mans car and maybe to a 20 year old it makes sence, I know the original 172 did to me. As for the looks, I just can't get on with it.
